Dear Corolla owners, I'm wondering about the significance of the dual-engine version. Is it fuel-efficient? The dual-engine version is 11,000 more expensive than the fuel version (not including the purchase tax). The dual-engine uses 4 liters per 100 km, while the fuel version uses 6 liters, saving 2 liters. Based on the highest fuel price of 8 per liter, you save 16 per 100 km. You'd have to drive 68,000 km to save that amount of money. [smile] For an average person, how long does it take to drive 68,000 km? I drive a maximum of 60 km a day, which would take over three years, and that's assuming I drive 60 km every day. [smile] In reality, it would take five years to save that money.

The dual-engine indeed uses more than 4 liters of oil, but as for the fuel, it's uncertain if it's 6 liters. 😁

1.2T with 6 liters of fuel consumption?? What are you thinking... My kid's 1.2T sports version takes eight to nine liters. A full tank costs over 300, and it doesn't even run 500 kilometers.

We're comparing the Corolla Hybrid and the pure gasoline version, so no need to bring other cars into the discussion. Isn't a Mercedes or BMW more appealing? When comparing the Corolla Hybrid to the pure gasoline version, the Hybrid is definitely more attractive. If you buy the pure gasoline version, you might regret it.

And there's the dual-engine vehicle tax, which is 360, while the 1.2t is only 150. Insurance is cheaper by 220 each year. If you opt for battery worry-free coverage, you'll need to add another 3000. It also comes with a particulate filter, which will inevitably get clogged over time, it's just a matter of when. If you don't drive over 60,000 km, buying a dual-engine is a waste since you can't recoup the price difference. Plus, the dual-engine has two systems, and both the inverter and air conditioning repairs are more costly. It has two fewer airbags. Even though the dual-engine's price has dropped to be similar to the purely gasoline version, it's actually been downgraded. In summary, for a family car with less driving, go for the 1.2t for peace of mind. For driving DiDi, the more you drive with a dual-engine, the more cost-effective it becomes. Regarding driving experience, the dual-engine is louder when the engine kicks in compared to the 1.2t. In terms of acceleration, 0-60 km/h is faster with the dual-engine, but beyond 60 km/h, the 1.2t accelerates faster. Also, the dual-engine isn't suitable for long periods of inactivity, as the battery is small and prone to losing charge, making it ideal for daily DiDi use.

Don't buy hybrids. When driving on the highway, they're the same as regular fuel cars. You can save a bit when driving slowly in the city, but if you want to go faster, there's not much difference.

For the 2023 lithium hybrid, it goes 0-100 km/h in 10 seconds, while the 1.2T takes over 12 seconds. Fuel consumption depends on road conditions, and in urban areas, the difference is more than just 2 liters. Conservatively, it saves 0.2 RMB per kilometer, with a price difference of 11,000 RMB. You'll break even after driving 50,000 to 60,000 kilometers. Driving 10,000 km per year takes about 5 years to break even, while 20,000 km per year takes about 3 years. The Corolla's 1.2T isn't fuel-efficient and doesn't rank well among its peers, with fuel consumption similar to its own 2.0 naturally aspirated engine. Choosing between hybrid or 1.2 depends on your driving environment. If you drive mostly on highways, the fuel consumption is similar, so go for the 1.2T. But if you plan to keep the car for 6 to 10 years, go for the hybrid. Ultimately, within your budget, choose what you personally like.
