Hongqi Launches All-Electric SUV: Tiangong 08

On November 12, 2024, Hongqi proudly revealed its all-electric SUV, the Tiangong 08. This five-seater electric multipurpose vehicle is built on the new Tiangong electric platform and the intelligent Jiuzhang platform, showcasing the future of electric vehicles. It will be sold outside China as the Hongqi EHS7, with a pre-order price of €53,999 (approximately $59,000) in Europe.

The vehicle will begin pre-orders at the Guangzhou Auto Show 2024, which opens on November 15, with an official launch planned for mid-December. The Tiangong platform is Hongqi’s new pure electric platform, compatible with sedans, SUVs, MPVs, and crossover models. It features Hongqi’s first low-temperature battery with fast charging technology capable of charging up to 80% in just five minutes. By 2026, Hongqi plans to launch a mid-size luxury electric SUV and a mid-size luxury electric sedan on the same platform.

The intelligent Jiuzhang platform focuses on a smart driving cabin and intelligent driving technology, supported by the “Hongqi No. 1” chip. Its intelligent driving system, named “Sinan Intelligent Driving,” provides advanced driving assistance features including urban autonomous navigation and smart parking assistance.

The Tiangong 08 will be available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, with a maximum power output of 339 horsepower. The all-wheel drive version adds a front electric motor with 271 horsepower. The top speed can reach 200 km/h. Additionally, there will be two battery options: a tri-lithium battery and a lithium iron phosphate battery. The tri-lithium battery version offers a range of 730 km for the rear-wheel drive model and 680 km for the all-wheel drive model, while the battery capacity and range data for the lithium iron phosphate version are yet to be announced.

Inside, the driving cabin features a flat-bottom steering wheel, an integrated display consisting of an LCD instrument panel and a central control screen, and an AR-HUD that can display driving and navigation information within a visual range of 4 meters and 7.5 meters, respectively. The traditional physical door handle has been replaced by a button. The center console offers wireless mobile phone charging, and the audio system comes from Dolby Atmos, along with an intelligent voice interaction feature.
