As Chinese electric vehicle(EV) manufacturer NIO intensifies its push into the UAE EV market, it is expected to face stiff competition from BYD.
NIO currently offers three models in the UAE: a sedan, a full-size SUV, and the latest coupe SUV—the EC6.
The EC6 dazzles with its attractive design and clever technologies that prove highly convenient for daily driving.
Exterior Design
The EC6 features a sleek exterior with a sloping hood that integrates two trapezoidal sections seamlessly into the headlights.
The midsection of the vehicle is marked by smart, retractable door handles and a rising shoulder line that creates a robust stance. Another hallmark of its design is the spacious panoramic sunroof, which blends flawlessly into the rear glass area.
From the back, the vehicle sports an athletic look with a broad LED strip that spans the width and a sturdy skid plate that bolsters its SUV allure.
The dual-mode active spoiler adds to its innovative design while being highly functional.
Interior and Comfort
Inside the EC6, one finds four interior themes: Onyx Black, Stream Blue, Red Loam, and Stellar Violet.
The car is also equipped with ergonomically designed seats that offer 16-way electric adjustments for the driver and 18-way adjustments for the front passenger.
To enhance the driving experience, these seats also feature heating, ventilation, and massage functions with a three-zone system covering the backrest, seat cushion, and leg support.
Moreover, the EC6 has a sufficiently wide cargo opening in the trunk, accommodating up to 594 liters, which can expand to 1,402 liters when the rear seats are folded.
This not only establishes it as a functional SUV but also allows it to tow trailers weighing up to 1,260 kg. Even the roof rack supports a load capacity of 75 kg.
Technology
In terms of entertainment and technology, the NIO EC6 boasts a 12.8-inch high-resolution AMOLED central display and a 6.6-inch rear HDR control screen, which includes functions like rear air conditioning, seat adjustments, heating, ventilation, massage for the rear seats, and even a media player.
Additionally, the AI Bot “NOMI” enhances voice control to adjust certain settings without taking your eyes off the road. For convenience, there is also a 9.3-inch head-up display that projects all vital information to the driver, with customizable settings for appearance and resolution.
The ambient lighting system offers 256 colors with ten selectable themes, while the 7.1.4 surround sound system is designed to deliver a harmonic experience through 23 speakers with a total audio output of 1,000 watts.
In terms of safety, the EC6 is generously equipped with numerous advanced driving assistance technologies, including automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, active lane changing, and advanced parking aids.
Engine
The NIO EC6 is powered by a 150 kW front motor and a 210 kW rear motor, balancing optimal power and range.
On a full charge, it can travel an estimated 550 km under the NEDC cycle, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.
The vehicle also predicts road conditions and adjusts its shock absorbers accordingly. During braking, it modifies brake force to limit internal inertia, ensuring a safe and comfortable ride for passengers.
Depending on the terrain and driver preferences, the EC6 offers nine driving modes—Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Custom, Sand, Snow, Wet, and Trailer.
Price
While the specific price for the UAE and GCC markets has not yet been disclosed, the vehicle is priced at approximately SAR188,928.44.
