SteerAI Project: Transforming Autonomous Driving in UAE

The sustainable future of the automotive industry is quietly unfolding in the UAE, as VentureOne, the commercial arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council, officially launches the SteerAI project. This initiative aims to revolutionize the driving experience of conventional vehicles through artificial intelligence, transforming them into advanced transportation tools with autonomous driving capabilities. Initially targeting the logistics and defense sectors, SteerAI integrates a suite of high-end hardware and software solutions to ensure that autonomous vehicles can execute complex tasks with exceptional accuracy and efficiency, thereby saving time and resources while safeguarding human resources.

“The launch of SteerAI signifies a further consolidation of the UAE's leadership in the field of autonomous driving technology,” said Faisal Al-Banai, advisor to the UAE President and Secretary General of the Advanced Technology Research Council. “We are committed to continuously pushing the boundaries of innovation, and SteerAI is a prime example of how we translate cutting-edge research into practical solutions.”

As if infusing vehicles with a “smart brain,” Dr. Najwa Al-Araj, CEO of TII, emphasized: “We are not just developing an autonomous vehicle; we are building a new intelligent driving system. The combination of advanced navigation algorithms and cutting-edge sensors forms an efficient system that can adapt to any vehicle, fundamentally changing the way we move.”

With the SteerAI system, autonomous vehicles can operate steadily and accurately between navigation points with minimal stops. The software works in tandem with sensors to enable vehicles to swiftly respond to potential hazards, maneuver around obstacles, and travel smoothly even in harsh environmental conditions and uncharted areas on maps.

In addition to enabling fully autonomous mobility, the SteerAI program also facilitates remote fleet management, providing ease of task planning and monitoring, while leveraging data analytics to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
