To all C40 owners, just wondering, does the new car have any smell? My XC60 had no smell at all, but since the C40 is an electric vehicle and doesn’t have leather interiors, I’m worried it might have a smell which could make me car sick.

No, Volvo's environmental focus isn't limited to just one model; it's consistent across all their models.

Are there any fellow car owners who have installed a dashcam? I bought one, but the 4S shop said they don't know how to install it. Just wondering, does the BRZ only have the fuse box in the engine compartment? How do you all get the power?

I've got a 2016 manual Vitara, and I've noticed marks on all four door screws. It's a used car, so I'm worried the doors might have been repaired. Do other owners have the same issue?

Has the leather on your car's door handles peeled off? All four of my door handles have this issue.

Does this car have good off-road capabilities, suitable for road trips? The back seat seems really spacious, good for sleeping, right? I'm not too worried about fuel consumption since it's American, as long as it's not too bad. I'm just concerned that besides being big, it won't be like a car costing around a hundred thousand [facepalm][facepalm] How's the driving experience and all that?

Do you think there will be discounts on the 2024 model after August, since many people are waiting for the 2025 model? I'm also worried about missing out. I don't have high demands for smart driving, and I feel like the 7-seater in the back doesn't have small tables. Plus, there are no discounts for non-ZEEKR users. Sigh!

Will this car have a hybrid version in the future? I really like it, but I'm worried about the high fuel consumption being too stressful. 🫡 After all, my family is buying the car, but I have to cover the maintenance costs myself.

Will the new Forester have a burnt leather smell? It only goes away some time after turning off the engine.

Does the G80 have any interior odors? I used to drive an XC60, and it didn't have any smell at all—the cabin was very comfortable. However, Volvo's soundproofing isn't great. I took a ride in a car-hailing service today, and there was an indescribable odor inside the car. Not sure if it was a plastic smell or something else, but even though it was faint, it made sitting inside uncomfortable. I don't know how the driver tolerates it. I test drove the G80 and noticed a bit of a smell, but it wasn't unpleasant. It definitely can't compare to a new Volvo. I'm curious if the smell will still be there after one or two months. With my previous XC60, even after being parked under the sun, there was no noticeable odor inside. Any G80 owners care to share their experience?

Since I got the car, I’ve driven it a few times on intercity highways and elevated city roads. At first, fuel consumption was quite high — around 12 L/100 km — but after some regular use, it dropped to 7.8. It hasn’t gone any lower since then, even though I’ve only driven about 500 km in less than a month. Honestly, every time I refuel, it stings a little 😅. This is my first car, so I don’t have much to compare it to, but driving feels smooth overall. Once you hit 100 km/h, tire noise becomes noticeable, but throttle response during overtaking is pretty decent. The thing that annoyed me most is the infotainment system. There’s no built-in CarPlay, so I bought an external adapter. While it technically works, Bluetooth is unstable, and the navigation voice won’t come through the car speakers. On top of that, the system randomly activates and starts saying weird things, and the voice assistant sometimes greets you with “Hi” and other times with “I’m here” — honestly, it feels awkward. I’m not sure if all Japanese brands do this, or just this one. As for interior space, the rear seat area is quite good, but the new car smell is still strong, so I’ve thrown in a bunch of charcoal bags to absorb it. Overall, I’m satisfied for a first car, but there are definitely things that could be better.
