Recently, BYD officially launched its first mid-size pickup truck model, the SHARK, in Panama at a starting price of $56,900 or about SAR 213,426.21.
Powertrain
The new pickup truck model is built on BYD's DMO Super Hybrid Off-Road platform, and equipped with a 1.5T engine and front and rear dual-motor powertrain, boasting a combined output of more than 430 hp and an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h of 5.7 seconds.
The SHARK model is equipped with a plug-in hybrid electric system with three driving modes: sand, mud and snow. The vehicle features double-wishbone independent suspension and a virtual differential lock that intelligently adjusts front and rear torque.
Exterior
The SHARK displays a rugged style in its exterior design, with a large "BYD" logo and "C" shaped daytime running lights at the front of the vehicle, black wheelarches on the sides, and blacked out A, B and C pillars.
Meanwhile, it offers fixed side steps, a gantry and a roof rack, with charging and refuelling ports located underneath the gantry on both sides.
The rear part of the vehicle is also equipped with a penetrating light band and the "BYD" logo. The body dimensions are 5457mm/1971mm/1925mm, and the wheelbase is 3260mm. The cargo volume is 1450 litres and the maximum load capacity is 835 kg.
Interior
The SHARK model adopts a dual-row and five-seat layout, equipped with 10.25-inch full LCD instrument Cluster, a 12.8-inch adaptive rotating centre control screen, a 12-inch W-HUD head-up display and a new style four-spoke steering wheel.
The interior also incorporates orange accents and a wireless charging panel for mobile phones with a maximum power of 50 watts.
Driving range
The SHARK adopts CTC battery-body integration technology and is powered by a 29.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate blade battery, with a pure electric range of 100km under NEDC conditions, a combined range of 840km, fuel consumption of 7.5 litres per 100km in the fed state, and support for the V2L external discharging function.
