Chery has officially unveiled the all new Fulwin A9L, also known as Fengyun, marking its entry into the mid to full size hybrid sedan segment with a bold combination of luxury, smart features, and cutting edge design. As the first production model under the new Fulwin sub brand dedicated to intelligent hybrid vehicles, the A9L is positioned to compete with established rivals like the BYD Han and Geely Galaxy E8. With a premium design and advanced onboard technologies, the Fulwin A9L stands out as an attractive option for buyers seeking a refined driving experience that blends elegance with performance.
Elegant Exterior Design Reflecting Luxury and Aerodynamic Character
The Fulwin A9L adopts a refined design language that blends luxury with sleek, dynamic styling. At the front, the car features a closed off grille paired with sharp LED headlights connected by a modern light strip, while a functional front air splitter enhances cooling performance. Its generous proportions highlight its full size sedan status, with a length of 5018 mm, a width of 1965 mm, a height of 1500 mm, and a wheelbase stretching to 3000 mm to ensure a spacious interior cabin.
The A9L rides on sporty 20 inch wheels wrapped in high performance Continental tires sized 245/45 R20. Color accented brake calipers add a visual edge, while the dual stage active rear spoiler adjusts automatically based on speed. It deploys at 90 km/h and 110 km/h with two distinct angles, boosting stability and reducing drag for a more efficient and planted drive.
A Smart Cabin That Blends Luxury with Technology
Inside, the Fulwin A9L reveals a refined cabin designed with a clean horizontal layout. At the center sits a large 15.6 inch touchscreen that supports HiCar, CarPlay, and CarLink, powered by the advanced Snapdragon 8255 chip and integrated with a dedicated security module. The cabin also offers Wi-Fi hotspot functionality for seamless smartphone content streaming, along with a 7.1.4 surround sound system featuring 23 speakers and a powerful 1-kilowatt output. A built in premium fragrance diffuser and fully customizable ambient lighting add to the upscale atmosphere.
The seats, upholstered in high grade leather, provide a luxurious experience with heating, cooling, and eight point massage functions. Rear passengers benefit from generous space and comfort, with options for a five seat layout or an upcoming four seat executive configuration. The latter will include features such as a built in refrigerator, ventilated and heated seatbacks, and power operated sunshades, elevating the rear cabin to executive class standards.
Advanced Safety Architecture and Protection Features
The Fulwin A9L is built on the Panshi Body 2.0 structure, which combines 88 percent high strength steel and aluminum for enhanced rigidity and durability. Critical areas are reinforced with ultra high strength steel capable of withstanding up to 20 tons of pressure per square centimeter, ensuring superior impact resistance. The vehicle is also equipped with nine standard airbags and dual aluminum impact beams designed to offer advanced protection in case of collisions.
As for braking performance, the system delivers impressive stopping power, bringing the car from 100 km/h to a complete halt in just 34.1 meters. During the moose test, the A9L demonstrated excellent handling stability, maintaining control at speeds up to 81.9 km/h, giving drivers added confidence across various driving conditions.
Smart Driving with Advanced Assistance and Predictive Technology
Chery has equipped its new Fulwin A9L with the advanced Falcon 700 intelligent driving system, which features a laser based LiDAR, three millimeter wave radars, 11 high definition cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Together, these components cover over 300 driving scenarios, ensuring comprehensive environmental awareness.
The system supports advanced safety technologies, including collision avoidance at speeds up to 135 km/h, emergency braking at up to 130 km/h, and child crossing protection up to 60 km/h.
Additional features include the NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) system for highway assistance and the HPA (Home Parking Assist) feature with memory based parking. These enhancements make the Fulwin A9L a smart and reliable sedan that meets the expectations of modern drivers.
Advanced Hybrid Performance with Long Electric Range
The Fulwin A9L is powered by the Kunpeng Super Hybrid CDM 6.0 system, which combines a 1.5 liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 156 hp with an electric motor delivering 374 hp. A dual motor all wheel drive version, named Snow Leopard, is also available, offering a combined output of 639 hp and 854 Nm of torque.
This hybrid powertrain is paired with a DHT Pro transmission that ensures smooth performance and fast dynamic response. The vehicle is equipped with a Blade type battery with a capacity of 33.67 kWh, providing an all electric driving range of up to 260 km, while the combined range exceeds 2,500 km, making it ideal for long distance daily use.
The system also includes an intelligent battery management setup with advanced fault detection capabilities, monitoring over 50 potential issues, including BMS faults, cooling system efficiency, and electrical leakage.
Multiple Trims to Meet GCC Market Needs
The Fulwin A9L is available in four trims, starting from 74,250 SAR for the Standard variant and going up to 102,950 SAR for the Ultra version. A limited time promotional offer drops the entry price to just 69,250 SAR. This wide range of options gives buyers the flexibility to choose a configuration that matches their preferences in performance, luxury, and advanced tech.
When compared to rivals like the BYD Han and Geely Galaxy E8, the Fulwin A9L clearly stands out with its higher power output, longer electric range, and more refined interior features. These advantages position it as one of the most compelling hybrid sedans to consider in Saudi Arabia and the UAE for 2025.
