The Smart brand, a collaboration between Mercedes and Geely, has unveiled the #5, its most ambitious model to date. This vehicle boasts the strongest engine ever fitted in a Smart car, marking a significant milestone in the brand's evolution.
Impressive Dimensions and Competitive Landscape
According to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Smart #5 measures an impressive 4705 mm in length, 1920 mm in width, and 1705 mm in height, making it 265 mm longer than the Smart #3, its predecessor. This positions the Smart #5 in the same league as popular models like the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Mercedes GLC, directly competing with the likes of the Tesla Model Y.
Its striking LED headlights and taillights bring a modern flair, retaining many design elements from the concept version, which highlights its bold aesthetic.
While images of the interior are not yet available, it is anticipated that the Smart #5 will feature three expansive screens across the dashboard, seating for five, and a plethora of cutting-edge safety and entertainment systems.
Electric Powertrains and Performance Metrics
The Smart #5 will offer a range of configurations, including base models with rear-wheel drive and a single electric motor generating either 340 or 363 horsepower.
For those seeking more power, all-wheel drive variants will be available, delivering an astonishing 646 horsepower, establishing the Smart #5 as the most powerful vehicle in the brand's history. Additionally, it promises a remarkable range of nearly 549 kilometers on a single charge.
