Isuzu has partnered with local engineering firm Walkinshaw to unveil the new D-Max Blade version. This redesigned pickup truck features enhancements in design and chassis that significantly improve its off-road performance, while the 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine remains unchanged.

The Isuzu D-Max Blade directly competes with the Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior designed by Premcar. It also serves as a more economical alternative to the Toyota Hilux GR Sport and Ford Ranger Raptor. The local team spent three years developing this project, covering over 100,000 kilometers of durability testing in Melbourne and other remote areas.

In terms of appearance, the D-Max Blade showcases a new grille design, black accents, and an integrated LED light bar at the bottom. The front red panel is made of steel, prominently displaying the Isuzu lettering. The wide wheel arches on the sides emphasize the new 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT all-terrain tires, reinforcing its rugged persona. Additionally, the truck features unique decals and tubular side steps.

Notably, the locally modified suspension system includes 35mm MTV dampers, significantly enhancing control and durability. Overall, these modifications raise the vehicle's height by 29mm compared to the base version, resulting in a ground clearance of 244mm.

Regarding the powertrain, Walkinshaw made no changes to the 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine, which produces the same power of 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission, equipped with a rear differential lock and a new off-road mode. This midsize pickup has a towing capacity of 3.5 tons and a payload capacity of 896 kilograms.

Interior modifications are limited to the Blade logo on the headrests, floor mats, and side steps. Finally, a numbered plaque on the gear shifter and under the hood adds uniqueness to this vehicle. The D-Max Blade is expected to arrive in Australia with a starting price of AUD 51,000 in November.
