- McLaren at Le Mans: Past, Present, and Future
In the world of super sports cars, some moments leave an unforgettable mark in racing history, including McLaren’s historic victory at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of this achievement, McLaren has launched a new special edition named the 750S Le Mans, based on its latest supercar, creating a rare masterpiece that blends heritage with innovation.
An Unforgettable Victory... and a Renewed Legacy
In 1995, McLaren entered the Le Mans race for the first time and achieved an overall victory with its famous F1 GTR car number 59, driven by JJ Lehto, Yannick Dalmas, and Masanori Sekiya. This victory announced McLaren’s strength in endurance racing and became part of the British brand’s identity.
To celebrate this anniversary, McLaren previously released special editions based on the 650S in 2015 and the 720S in 2020, and now returns with the more advanced and exclusive 750S Le Mans edition.
Race-Inspired Exterior Design
The 750S Le Mans edition features an advanced aerodynamic package from McLaren’s Special Operations (MSO) division, increasing downforce by 10% compared to the standard model. This package includes:
Larger, more prominent front splitter
Distinctive sporty roof scoop
Larger active rear wing
Rear vents made entirely of carbon fiber
The car is exclusively available in two colors: the special Le Mans grey or McLaren’s traditional orange, with LM badges on the sides and iconic stealth-finished five-spoke alloy wheels. The brake calipers are painted gold inspired by Formula 1 cars with a red McLaren logo, and customers can opt for a high-performance “Track” brake package.
Interior Combining Luxury with Racing Identity
Inside, the cabin blends black carbon Alcantara with premium black leather, accented by light grey or orange stitching depending on the chosen theme. The Le Mans logo is embroidered on the headrests and carpets, along with a special plaque confirming that you are sitting in one of only 50 units worldwide.
For added exclusivity, customers can add a plaque in the front trunk documenting the car’s number and McLaren’s 1995 Le Mans victory date, making each unit a nostalgic and prestigious collector’s piece.
Uncompromised High Performance
The 750S Le Mans retains the mechanical specs of the standard 750S, featuring a mid-mounted 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 740 horsepower and approximately 800 Nm of torque. This ensures breathtaking acceleration and a track-inspired driving experience befitting the McLaren name.
Absolute Exclusivity for Collectors
Only 50 units of this edition will be produced worldwide, making it a coveted item for collectors and racing enthusiasts. Every detail reflects the spirit of endurance racing, from the bold exterior design to the bespoke interior and exclusive badging.
McLaren at Le Mans: Past, Present, and Future
McLaren’s celebration goes beyond the anniversary; the company is preparing to compete in the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans with two 750S GT3 EVO cars and has announced plans to return to the top class of the race in 2027 with a brand-new hypercar.
The McLaren 750S Le Mans edition is more than just a supercar; it is a proud message of a rich heritage and a testament that the spirit of victory and innovation remains alive at the heart of the British brand. For car enthusiasts and racing fans, this edition is not only a tribute to the past but a promise of a more thrilling and daring future in high-performance automotive engineering.
