The General Authority of Roads announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Engineering Association. This agreement aims to improve the efficiency of engineering offices and companies operating in the road sector and to reinforce the application of the Saudi road code.
The new memorandum will assist in enhancing the performance of engineering offices and companies, equipping them with the necessary skills to operate and maintain roads. It will also work to effectively implement the engineering profession practice system and enhance supervision and inspection of improper practices. Additionally, it will organize joint awareness campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of applying the Saudi road code.
Other areas of cooperation, as stated in the signed memorandum, include coordination between relevant government entities to ensure the application of the Saudi road code and its alignment with other regulations. The agreement will also define the requirements necessary for qualifying engineering offices and companies to work in the road sector.
Furthermore, collaboration with the National Center for Privatization has been announced to seek the best companies specialized in road works and open the door for expressing interest in operating and maintaining the direct Jeddah-Makkah road. Additionally, it will establish and operate service areas adjacent to the road.
