Great Wall Motors (GWM), one of China’s largest automobile manufacturers, has announced the launch of the updated version of its luxury hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV), the WEY Lanshan, during a special event that attracted wide media coverage. This update reaffirms WEY’s commitment, the luxury sub-brand of Great Wall, to offering the latest technologies and designs in the large family SUV segment, while maintaining competitive pricing that enhances its appeal in China’s growing market.
Luxurious Design and Spacious Dimensions
The new version of the WEY Lanshan SUV features a modern exterior design that combines elegance with strength, showcasing dynamic lines that give the vehicle a striking road presence. The car measures 5,156 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,805 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm, providing an extremely spacious interior that comfortably accommodates six passengers. The vehicle targets large families and long-distance travelers, combining luxury and practicality in one package.
Advanced Hybrid System and Sporty Performance
The new Lanshan is powered by an advanced hybrid system that combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 125 kW, the Great Wall’s Hi4 Performance Edition all-wheel-drive system, and two electric motors generating a combined total output of 220 kW and 410 Nm of torque. Thanks to this system, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, a remarkable figure in the large family SUV category.
The vehicle offers two lithium-ion battery options with capacities of 44.5 kWh and 52.3 kWh, providing an electric-only range of 185 km and 220 km respectively (according to the WLTC standard). When combining fuel and a full charge, the car can cover a total distance of up to 1,343 km, making it an ideal choice for long trips without range anxiety.
Advanced Smart Driving Technology
WEY places special emphasis on smart driving experience, equipping the updated Lanshan with the advanced Nvidia Orin-X processor that supports the Coffee Pilot Ultra intelligent driving system. This system offers advanced features such as NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) for both urban and highway driving, providing greater comfort and safety for the driver.
The vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive suite of sensors, including a 128-channel LiDAR radar, three millimeter-wave radars, twelve ultrasonic radars, and eleven high-definition cameras, ensuring high accuracy in environmental detection and rapid response to various traffic conditions.
Diverse Trim Levels and Features
The Lanshan is available in three main trims: Max, Ultra, and Ultra Black Knight, with prices starting at 299,800 yuan (approximately $41,520 USD), the same as the previous generation. This reflects WEY’s commitment to delivering added value without raising prices. Higher trims offer more luxury features and smart systems to meet the expectations of different customer segments.
Special Offers and Incentives for Buyers
To celebrate the launch, WEY is offering temporary incentives for buyers, including a 10,000 yuan discount on the final payment, up to 20,000 yuan trade-in support for old vehicles, and insurance subsidies of up to 4,000 yuan. Additionally, special support of 80,000 yuan is provided for owners of WEY VV7 vehicles purchased in 2017 when upgrading to the new model.
Strong Sales Performance and Continuous Growth
Recent sales figures reflect the success of WEY’s strategy in the Chinese market. The brand sold 4,811 vehicles in April 2025, representing a 7.92% year-on-year increase. From January to April, sales reached 18,136 units, achieving a 28.94% annual growth and accounting for 5.08% of Great Wall Motors’ total sales during the same period.
With the launch of the updated Lanshan, WEY continues to strengthen its position as a luxurious and smart choice in the large hybrid SUV market. The vehicle combines modern design, powerful performance, and advanced technology, along with attractive offers for buyers, confirming that the future of family vehicles is smarter and more luxurious than ever before.
