2024 BYD Seal in-depth Walkaround The BYD Seal is a battery-electric mid-size fastback sedan produced by BYD Auto, representing the second model in BYD's "Ocean Series" following the smaller BYD Dolphin hatchback. Built on BYD's advanced e-Platform 3.0 with an 800-volt electrical platform, the Seal offers cutting-edge technology and sleek design, positioning it as a strong contender in the electric vehicle market. The BYD Seal's powertrain includes an AC permanent magnet synchronous motor at the rear, with an optional squirrel cage induction asynchronous motor at the front for all-wheel drive. Depending on the configuration, the vehicle offers power output ranging from 150 to 390 kW (204 to 530 PS; 201 to 523 hp). It is equipped with either a 61.4 kWh or an 82.5 kWh BYD Blade LFP battery, delivering an electric range of 460 to 570 km (286 to 354 miles) according to WLTP standards. The Seal supports a 7 kW single-phase (AC) or an 11 kW three-phase (AC) plug-in charging system in Europe, with fast DC charging capabilities between 110 and 150 kW. The vehicle measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,460 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm and a curb weight ranging from 1,885 to 2,185 kg (4,156 to 4,817 lbs), making it a well-rounded and substantial electric sedan.
