The construction work for the second phase of Xiaomi's car factory has officially begun, with workers working day and night to ensure rapid progress. The first phase started in April 2022, covering an area of 720,000 square meters, and was completed in June 2023.

The second phase of the factory is adjacent to the first, covering a smaller area of 531,000 square meters. The factory was purchased for approximately 842 million yuan, equivalent to about 120 million dollars. Parts of the foundations for the second factory have already been completed, and construction began on the same day the land payment was made. According to reports on social media, the construction is taking place around the clock, even on weekends.

It is expected to be completed within a year. According to the plans, the site will include 391,500 square meters of above-ground buildings and 8,503.33 square meters underground. The maximum height of the buildings will be 15.95 meters, and about 15% of the land will be designated as green space. There will also be a parking lot accommodating 1,009 cars.

The second phase of the factory is likely to play a crucial role in increasing the production of Xiaomi's second model, the SUV named MX11. This will help expedite delivery processes and pave the way for new models, such as another SUV that will represent Xiaomi's third model, rumored to be an electric vehicle with extended range and affordable pricing.

The new factory is also likely to implement manufacturing technologies such as super casting to reduce costs and speed up production times. Xiaomi has already implemented such technologies in its first factory. In July, Xiaomi became the seventeenth new energy vehicle producer to obtain a manufacturing license. Prior to this, the company used a Baic license to produce its vehicles.
