When it comes to SUVs, Aston Martin leads in luxury and performance. The British marque has introduced the new DBX S to rival the Ferrari Purosangue and Lamborghini Urus SE. By incorporating technology borrowed from its supercars and shedding excess weight, the DBX S delivers both sharper handling and thrilling acceleration for an elevated driving experience.
Incredible Power Derived from Valhalla Technology
The DBX S engine incorporates Valhalla’s advanced technology, featuring larger turbochargers that add 20 hp for a total output of 717 hp. This upgrade is reflected in the vehicle’s performance, preserving a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) sprint time of 3.3 seconds while shaving 0.3 seconds off the 0–200 km/h (0–124 mph) run compared to the DBX 707. Aston Martin complements this power boost with a new exhaust system that enhances the AMG-inspired twin-turbo V8 note.
Exterior Modifications Enhance DBX S Presence
Aston Martin has fitted the DBX S with a blacked out front grille, lending it a more assertive and distinctive look. To optimise aerodynamics, the company revised the front and rear bumpers and installed larger side skirts. These upgrades smooth airflow around the body, boosting stability at high speeds and delivering a commanding presence on Gulf roads. Additionally, Aston Martin introduced a stacked rear exhaust system inspired by the DB12 AMR, underscoring the brand’s dedication to melding sophisticated sports car styling with enhanced performance.
Luxurious Interior and Weight Saving Options
The DBX S cabin emphasizes performance with seats upholstered in herringbone patterns inspired by supercars, a motif echoed in the headliner stitching when fitted with an 18 kg lighter carbon fiber roof. Optional 23 inch magnesium wheels shave off 19 kg, complemented by carbon fiber side sills, carbon fiber bumpers, and a polycarbonate front grille.
Selecting all available weight-saving options cuts 47 kg from the standard DBX 707’s curb weight, sharpens steering response by 4 percent, and delivers driving dynamics more akin to those of a GT car on the highway.
Competitor Comparison and Future Pricing
The DBX S challenges the Ferrari Purosangue and Lamborghini Urus SE by taking a different route: it forgoes the V12 powerplant of its rivals and does not include the hybrid system found in the Italian SUVs. Instead, Aston Martin has refined and enhanced its twin turbo V8 powertrain, improved the body aerodynamics, and trimmed weight to strike the perfect balance between everyday performance and uncompromised luxury.
Aston Martin has yet to reveal official pricing, but enthusiasts expect a substantial price premium over the DBX 707, which carries a sticker of $256,086 (940,609 AED). As a result, buyers in markets such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE will likely base their decision on comparing raw performance figures against the distinctive driving experience that the DBX S delivers.
