On April 24, 2026, at the Shunyi Hall of the Beijing Auto Show, the center of BYD‘s booth belongs to a large 7-seat SUV measuring over 5.3 meters in length with a 3,130mm wheelbase – the BYD “Tang.” It is the highest-positioned and most technology-dense flagship in BYD’s Dynasty series, and the company‘s ace in its head-on assault on traditional luxury brands.

The Tang is available in pure electric and plug-in hybrid versions. The EV version features the second-generation Blade Battery and a full-domain 1000V high-voltage architecture – the core of BYD’s Super e-Platform. With a maximum charging power of 1 megawatt, 1000A peak current, and a 10C charging rate, official figures show that 5 minutes of charging adds 400 km of range, bringing EV charging efficiency to the same level as gasoline refueling. Crucially, this 1000V architecture is not lab-only – BYD has committed to building 20,000 flash charging stations by end of 2026, achieving 3km coverage in first- and second-tier cities. The PHEV version uses the fifth-generation DM super hybrid system, with a dedicated Xiaoyun engine exceeding 46.5% thermal efficiency, fuel consumption as low as 2.4L/100km, and a combined range exceeding 2,000 km.

On the chassis and intelligence front, the Tang comes standard with Yunlin-A intelligent air suspension, actively adjusting stiffness and height based on road conditions and driving modes. For ADAS, a roof-mounted LiDAR works with the God’s Eye high-level system, supporting urban NOA, highway navigation, and automated parking. Inside, the DiLink 6.0 system features a 5G chip and a 15.6-inch rotating screen, with an AI voice assistant supporting four-zone recognition.

Priced at approximately 400,000 yuan, pre-sales begin at the auto show. This positions the Tang directly between the Li Auto L9, AITO M9 and the BMW X5, Mercedes GLE. BYD’s intent is clear: use vastly superior intelligent and electric technologies, combined with competitive pricing, to take market share from BBA. The Tang signals that Chinese brands are no longer satisfied with the “value-for-money” label, but are challenging the century-old strongholds of luxury brands with hard-core technology. The 2026 Beijing Auto Show may well be the first trumpet of this battle.
