BYD has been launching a wave of new models recently, unveiling a variety of luxury cars, SUVs, sedans, pickup trucks, and more. BYD has no intention of squaring up to its competitors. Not only has it overtaken Tesla, it has also dominated the market. While Elon Musk is busy with politics, BYD is developing and inventing cutting-edge technologies. After unveiling the Yangwang U7 luxury sedan this week, the BYD Shark 6 pickup truck in Thailand, the Sealion 05, and others, it unveiled the e7 model two days ago, a fully electric mid-range sedan. The company hasn't revealed many details, but it has released images that give us a sense of the new car's shape and provide some visual details. It measures 4,780 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,515 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. It comes with a single electric motor with a maximum output of 100 kW (134 hp), and a top speed of 150 km/h.

Last February, it was revealed that the car would be available with 48 kWh and 57.6 kWh powertrains, allowing the car to travel 450 km and 520 km of electric range, respectively, depending on the battery power.

BYD typically names its cars after historical Chinese royal dynasties or names related to marine life, but this excludes the e Series electric car. One of the latest models launched by the company in this series was the e2 Glory Edition, part of the new Ocean Series models.

This car is expected to be priced appropriately for the middle class, who want an electric car they can trust, as it is manufactured by leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers.

BYD demonstrates a strong expansion strategy that not only diversifies its model range but also includes smart expansion into global markets. Rather than engaging in direct pricing wars, the company is focusing on offering vehicles with advanced technology and competitive prices, making them an ideal choice for the middle class looking for a reliable electric vehicle.

This move goes beyond simply introducing new models; it is part of a broader vision aimed at strengthening BYD's position as a key player in the future of electric mobility. Today, BYD ranks fifth globally between the top 10 automotive brands. While Tesla faces internal management and production challenges, BYD is seizing the opportunity to expand its influence in markets, particularly in Asia and Europe, where the demand for affordable electric vehicles is growing. Its reliance on vertical integration—meaning the manufacture of most of its vehicle components in-house, including batteries—gives it a significant competitive advantage in terms of cost and efficiency. With the launch of models like the e7, it appears that BYD is not only seeking to keep up with the competition, but also to lead the electric vehicle sector by offering practical and innovative options that meet the needs of various segments.

If the company continues on this path, it could soon become the most dominant name in the electric vehicle industry, especially in emerging markets seeking reliable and sustainable alternatives to traditional vehicles. It targets all types of markets without exception. It manufactures sports sedans, luxury vehicles, off-road SUVs, small electric hatchbacks, and mid-size crossover vehicles. The company plays on all strings to be accessible to all classes and categories. So, will it replace Toyota, the world's number one?
