Chery, the Chinese automotive giant, has achieved a major technological milestone with the global delivery of its first batch of AiMOGA smart robots. The event took place on April 26 at the company’s international headquarters in Shanghai, marking a strategic move to integrate artificial intelligence into automotive services. The initial rollout of 220 robots represents one of the most ambitious efforts to incorporate humanoid robots into everyday customer interactions.
Advanced Technology in a Single Robot
The AiMOGA robot is engineered to be more than just an automated assistant. It integrates a suite of advanced technologies developed in-house by Chery, including a driver assistance system adapted from the brand’s latest vehicle models and an intelligent cabin interface. Additionally, the CheryGPT language model enables smooth, natural voice interactions with visitors. The robot is also equipped with high-precision sensors that detect human movement and respond accordingly.
In showrooms, AiMOGA handles various tasks such as welcoming guests, answering questions, recommending suitable car models, and guiding customers on tours of the vehicles on display. It has already been introduced in several 4S showrooms in Malaysia, where it has demonstrated its effectiveness in improving the overall customer experience and increasing engagement.
Ambitious Roadmap Beyond the Automotive Sector
Chery has outlined a three phase strategic roadmap to expand the use of AiMOGA robots. The first phase focuses on integrating them into car showroom environments to support smart transformation and enhance the customer experience. This phase is already in progress, with gradual expansion into international markets.
The second phase aims to deploy the robots in public service settings such as shopping malls and government institutions. In these environments, the robots can guide visitors, provide information, and reduce pressure on frontline staff, thereby improving operational efficiency and service quality.
The third and most advanced phase envisions bringing AiMOGA into home environments as a smart assistant capable of handling simple tasks such as managing schedules, sending reminders, and supporting entertainment or education. With this vision, Chery aims to make the robot an integral part of everyday life.
A Paradigm Shift in Humanoid Robot Commercialization
While most humanoid robot projects remain in experimental phases or are limited to small scale production, Chery has achieved a large scale rollout that is unprecedented in the sector. This success is driven by their scenario driven technology approach, which focuses on designing robot features around real world use cases to ensure alignment with market demands, rather than simply showcasing advanced technology.
This practical strategy has shortened development cycles and accelerated commercial readiness, allowing the robots to be deployed in real world settings, starting with automotive showrooms and expanding to public spaces and, eventually, domestic environments.
Through the AiMOGA project, Chery reinforces its identity not only as a modern automotive manufacturer but also as a forward thinking tech innovator redefining how customers interact with technology. As the use of these robots grows, we may witness a major transformation in service delivery across various sectors in the near future.
