The Saudi automotive market is witnessing a clear shift toward adopting intelligent driving technologies, and with the launch of the Geely Cityray 2025, the Chinese brand positions itself as one of the top contenders in the compact crossover segment. This vehicle is designed to be a smart companion on the road, offering a blend of practicality, comfort, and efficient performance, all supported by advanced systems that boost confidence and safety across a wide range of driving conditions.
A Modern SUV with Advanced Engineering and Extended Warranty
The Geely Cityray belongs to the compact crossover segment and is built on the advanced BMA 2.0 platform, ensuring a perfect balance between performance and efficiency. Known in China as the Boyue Cool, the Cityray is powered by a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine producing 172 horsepower, paired with a 7 speed DCT transmission. Its multi link rear suspension provides a smooth and responsive driving experience on both paved roads and rough terrain.
In terms of safety, the body structure incorporates high strength steel and heat formed boron steel to enhance protection in the event of a collision. The Cityray is available in Saudi Arabia through Al Wallan Trading Company, the official Geely distributor, in three trim levels: GC priced at 92,635 SAR, GK at 99,535 SAR, and the fully loaded GF at 101,835 SAR. Backed by a 7 year or 250,000 kilometer warranty, the Cityray reflects Geely’s strong confidence in the durability and quality of its engineering.
Smart Driver Assistance on Slopes and in City Traffic
The 2025 Geely Cityray comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies that enhance safety and simplify daily driving. One of the key features is the adaptive cruise control (ACC) system, which activates at speeds above 30 km/h and maintains a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. It also supports a Stop & Go function, making it especially useful for navigating through heavy traffic with minimal driver input.
Additional features include hill start assist, which prevents the vehicle from rolling backward when switching from the brake to the accelerator on steep inclines. The hill descent control (HDC) system is also available, automatically regulating the vehicle's speed without requiring the driver to apply the brakes, offering added confidence when driving on steep or rugged terrain.
The Cityray is also fitted with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that alerts the driver of any changes in tire pressure and an electronic parking brake (EPB) that can be engaged or released at the touch of a button. To enhance nighttime visibility, the car features adaptive front lighting that adjusts the beam direction based on the vehicle’s speed and steering angle, improving safety in low light conditions.
Interactive Warnings for Door Opening and Reversing
In busy driving environments, the smart safety systems in the Geely Cityray are designed to enhance driver and passenger awareness when exiting the vehicle or reversing. The Door Opening Warning (DOW) system alerts occupants if a car or motorcycle is approaching from behind, using precise sensors to minimize the risk of opening a door into oncoming traffic.
When reversing, the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system steps in to monitor rear cross traffic. It detects objects approaching from either side, such as vehicles passing behind in parking lots, and notifies the driver with audible or visual alerts. This system plays a key role in boosting driver awareness in tight or low visibility areas, making reversing maneuvers significantly safer.
Semi Autonomous Driving in Traffic and on Highways
To meet the demands of urban commuting, the Geely Cityray is equipped with Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), a smart system that uses cameras and radar to monitor vehicles ahead and automatically adjust the car’s speed and stops based on traffic flow. This makes it an ideal solution for city drivers, helping reduce the constant stress of braking and accelerating in heavy congestion.
On highways, the Cityray relies on the Highway Assist System (HWA) to maintain lane positioning and cruising speed intelligently. This advanced feature integrates lane keeping assist (LKAS), adaptive cruise control, GPS data, and navigation input to reduce driver effort during long distance travel, helping enhance focus and minimize fatigue behind the wheel.
A New Standard in the Smart Crossover Segment
By combining TJA and HWA systems with an array of advanced driving technologies, the Cityray Ray delivers a semi autonomous driving experience that positions it as a serious contender in its segment within the Saudi market. It is far more than just an affordable or stylish vehicle; it represents a comprehensive package of safety, innovation, and comfort. This new approach from Geely clearly reflects the direction many Chinese brands are taking, offering practical, tech forward vehicles with premium features, all without the premium price tag.
