Geely Holding Group has entered a new era of innovation and advanced technology as its commercial space subsidiary, Geespace, confirmed the successful sixth launch of its satellite constellation GEESATCOM (Geely Future Mobility Constellation). A total of 12 new satellites were placed in orbit aboard a rocket launched from the sea near Rizhao in China’s Shandong Province.

With this mission, the first phase of the constellation is now complete, bringing the total number of satellites in orbit to 64, achieved through six consecutive launches between 2022 and 2025. This milestone secures Geely’s position as the first private Chinese company to develop a fully integrated satellite communication system.

A Global IoT Satellite Constellation

GEESATCOM is the first low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation in China to be fully designed, developed, manufactured, and operated by a private company. It delivers global Internet of Things (IoT) communication services with flexible and reliable coverage extending across regions up to 60 degrees north and south of the equator.

The constellation demonstrates powerful capabilities:

  • 340 million connections per day.

  • Capacity for 20 million global users, including 5 million high frequency and 15 million medium to low frequency users.

  • Internally developed adaptive anti-jamming algorithms to ensure stability.

  • Signal resistance strength of 50 decibels with advanced anti-interception features to guarantee data security.

With these specifications, GEESATCOM proves to be more than a technical project. It represents a strategic step toward creating a safer, more efficient communication environment on a global scale.

Long Term Investment and Integrated Technology

Geespace’s vision goes far beyond launching satellites, extending to the creation of a fully integrated ecosystem that covers every stage of the project from design to commercial operations. The company has invested heavily in research and development to establish a robust foundation that includes:

  • Designing the constellation and verifying its performance.

  • Developing payload platforms independently.

  • Mass production of satellites.

  • Autonomous operation and management of the constellation.

  • Developing communication chips and terminal modules.

This integrated system enables satellite IoT communication services to be delivered at a cost that is less than 1% of traditional satellite providers, making it an attractive option for a wide range of industries worldwide, especially those seeking reliable and affordable connectivity solutions.

High Flexibility and Diverse Applications

GEESATCOM stands out with operational flexibility that allows it to adapt to different scenarios thanks to its capabilities in:

  • Immediate event response

  • Priority scheduling based on usage

  • Verification of data receipt

  • Support for variable message lengths

  • Frequency allocation tailored to specific needs

This flexibility makes the system suitable for a wide range of sectors, from smart connected vehicles to critical infrastructure. Key industries benefiting from the constellation include:

  • Smart vehicles and advanced car connectivity

  • Maritime navigation and fisheries

  • Heavy construction equipment monitoring

  • Low altitude aerial mobility

  • Emergency communications in disaster situations

  • Transportation and logistics

  • Power grid and infrastructure management

  • Water and natural resource management

  • Agriculture, forestry, and livestock

Completing the Global Commercial Loop

Through the development of electronic chips, terminal modules, and ground stations, Geespace has successfully passed commercial proof of concept (POC) tests, confirming seamless integration across space, ground, and applications. This milestone places Geely at the forefront, bridging the automotive industry with space technology and strengthening its role as a global player in fields far beyond traditional mobility.

The completion of GEESATCOM’s first phase highlights Geely’s ambition to build a secure and efficient global IoT network, reinforcing the idea that the future will not be limited to roads alone but will also extend into space to serve vital industries worldwide.
