The Genesis brand, part of Hyundai, has recently announced its participation in several globally recognized racing events, exciting the Genesis dealer Al-Wahlan in Saudi Arabia. The company stated that this marks a new era for the Genesis brand, which will compete in touring car races, the Le Mans 24 Hours, and the World Rally Championship.
Over the years, Hyundai has successfully reshaped its image as a powerful brand through participation in renowned events like the World Rally Championship (WRC) and Touring Car Racing (TCR). This transformation has paved the way for the development of the N series models, which include high-performance hatchbacks, sedans, and electric high-performance vehicles.
Hyundai Motorsport recently announced its entry into the World Endurance Championship (WEC), an event organized by the International Automobile Federation, which includes the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hour race. The team will compete under the Genesis brand, but the announcement on social media did not provide a specific timeline.
What has been confirmed is that the factory team will compete in the LMDh category, which is one of two categories in the WEC Hypercar class, along with LMH. The main difference between the two is that LMH allows manufacturers to design and build their cars entirely from scratch.
In contrast, LMDh cars must include a certain percentage of standard components, particularly the chassis and suspension system, which are supplied by four licensed companies: Dallara, Multimatic, Ligier, and Oreca.
Genesis will compete against race cars from Acura, BMW, Cadillac, Porsche, Alpine, and Lamborghini in the LMDh category. While reports indicate that participation will begin in 2026, this has yet to be confirmed.
