In September, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unveiled a new electric sedan from Jack Ion, named Ion RT. Previously, Jack Ion announced plans to launch several new models, including a sedan with the codename AY3 released in August. Additionally, another model with the codename AY2 was announced at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November. It is still unclear whether the Ion RT is indeed AY3.
Regarding the exterior design, the Ion RT features a rounded shape that aligns with the modern standard of Chinese electric vehicles, with a closed front design, slim headlights, and hidden door handles. There are not many surprises in the design, with the charging port located on the right front fender. The rear light design is slanted, featuring the Ion brand lettering in the middle.
In addition to the “RT” logo on the rear, Jack revealed two other names: “T” and “VT” at the back. However, Jack still needs to officially announce the final name. The car's dimensions are 4865mm in length, 1875mm in width, and 1520mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2775mm, making it larger than the Jack Ion S model. The weight of the vehicle ranges between 1670kg and 1780kg.
The vehicle features 17-inch and 18-inch wheels with various designs. Externally, it is equipped with 6 front radars and 6 rear lidar, but lacks rear radar. Additionally, there is a front roof radar without a front or rear camera, tinted glass for privacy, and door handles available in various colors.
Power comes from a permanent magnet synchronous motor with an output of 201 to 221 horsepower, paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL. The maximum speed is 163 km/h. The battery capacity and related range information have not yet been disclosed.
In August of last year, the Jack Ion brand sold 35,355 vehicles globally, representing a 32% year-on-year decline compared to the previous August's sales of 52,057 vehicles. Jack Ion plans to launch four new models in the second half of 2024.
