Electric vehicles are rapidly gaining popularity in Saudi Arabia as charging infrastructure expands and drivers shift toward more efficient and eco friendly technologies. In the midst of this transition, the Volkswagen ID.4 stands out as a refined European electric SUV that combines German reliability with a smooth, quiet driving experience ideal for everyday use. However, purchasing one in Saudi Arabia depends on more than just design and range, availability, maintenance, and charging networks across the country also play a crucial role.

Availability and Pricing

Browsing Volkswagen Saudi Arabia’s official website reveals that the current 2025 lineup includes only gasoline and diesel models such as the Tiguan, Teramont, and Touareg, with no mention of the ID.4. This confirms that the ID.4 is not yet officially offered by the brand’s local distributor, SamaCo. Those eager to own one typically consider importing the car from nearby markets like the UAE.

It’s important to note that the final cost in Saudi Arabia increases due to additional fees, including:

  • International shipping

  • Customs and technical inspection

  • Insurance and vehicle registration

After adding these logistics and administrative expenses, the total price can exceed 200,000 SAR, depending on the chosen trim and import method.

Range, Performance, and Charging

The Volkswagen ID.4 offers a balanced blend of smooth performance and refined comfort, thanks to its quiet electric motor and well tuned suspension system. Most versions available globally use a 77 kWh net battery, providing a driving range of up to 512 km (WLTP) for the Pro 4Motion model. Energy consumption averages between 16.5 and 17.1 kWh per 100 km, making it ideal for everyday city driving.

Performance and Key Specifications:

  • Motor: Fully electric with rear wheel or all wheel drive depending on the variant

  • Power Output: Between 201 and 295 hp

  • Acceleration 0–100 km/h: Between 8.5 and 6.9 seconds

  • Electric Range: Up to 512 km

  • Fast Charging: From 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes

Inside, the ID.4 delivers a quiet, relaxing driving experience with instant torque and smooth response, making it perfect for daily commuting or family use without compromising comfort or performance.

Charging Infrastructure in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has seen remarkable growth in electric charging infrastructure over the past few years. Networks like Electromin now cover major cities and highways with both AC and DC chargers, offering convenient features like location tracking, booking, and payment through a dedicated mobile app.

In addition, the government backed company EVIQ has launched an ambitious plan to establish a national network of fast charging stations, aiming to operate 60 stations by the end of 2025, mainly along highways and intercity routes. These initiatives reflect strong progress toward widespread EV adoption, though the network remains in expansion. For now, having a home charger remains a key factor for convenience and long term usability.

After Sales Service

As of now, official maintenance and service for the Volkswagen ID.4 are not available through the brand’s local dealer, Samaco, since the model has not yet been included in the official lineup in Saudi Arabia. This means that anyone purchasing the car through parallel import should first verify the availability of spare parts and certified workshops for servicing.

Additionally, the warranty may only be valid in the country of origin, requiring owners to rely on independent service centers until Volkswagen officially introduces the ID lineup to the Saudi market.
