The new Kia EV6 was officially unveiled at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, showcasing numerous significant updates. Recently, the car has begun arriving in the European market, drawing considerable attention. Based on early user feedback, Kia has optimized the vehicle with several enhancements, including an updated front design, improved range, user-friendly operation experience, and new safety, comfort, and security features.
Design
The new Kia EV6 has undergone a redesign in its wheels, bumpers, and lights, giving it a sharper appearance. The front lights feature vertically integrated lenses surrounded by V-shaped daytime running lights. A highlight of the exterior design is the new front lights equipped with “Star Map Signature” daytime running lights, and the semi-triangular design of the headlights gives the car a more futuristic look. The newly designed front wheels also add a robust and rugged appearance.
Interior Space
The new Kia EV6's interior has undergone several upgrades, including a fingerprint recognition system, a redesigned steering wheel, and improved dashboard materials, featuring an updated infotainment screen that enhances the overall internal experience. The new steering wheel design makes it more stable and aligns with luxury vehicle standards. Additionally, the newly introduced fingerprint recognition system provides convenience for different family members.
On the dashboard, the fine details surrounding the dual 12.3-inch touch screens provide a higher sense of quality, replacing the previous hard plastic materials.
The interior of the new EV6 remains spacious and comfortable, looking more refined after the update. The screens are responsive and clear.
The display system has also been updated, with dual 12.3-inch screens running more smoothly, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Kia states that the vehicle's safety has also been improved, with increased thickness of the B-pillar and the addition of side airbags for the second row, bringing the total number of airbags to ten.
Specifications
There are no significant changes to the rear seating or storage area in the updated EV6. The vehicle is now equipped with a fourth-generation 84 kWh battery, up from the current 77.4 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 494 km, an improvement of 4%. This change is particularly beneficial for customers in the US, where the current model has a range of 310 miles. The new battery shows an 8.4% improvement in energy density, thanks to new materials. The vehicle continues to offer both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive versions, with the all-wheel drive version producing 325 horsepower and 605 Nm of torque.
