Four years after the launch of the MC20, Maserati returns with an updated version bearing a new name, MCPura. This refreshed model brings subtle enhancements to the exterior design and interior details, all while preserving the thrilling performance that made the original a standout. The global debut of the MCPura is set to take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom, scheduled from July 10 to 13, 2025. With a more mature design language and a striking visual presence, the MCPura is poised to steal the spotlight.
Bolder Design and a Palette of Striking New Colors
While the MCPura retains the flowing silhouette that defined the MC20, it introduces a series of subtle but effective changes that enhance its visual impact and sporty character. The front grille has been reshaped into a trapezoidal form with angled edges, replacing the previous oval design. A more prominent lower frame adds an aggressive edge to the front fascia. Meanwhile, the air intakes beneath the headlights have been revised to feature cleaner, more linear shapes, and the rear bumper has been sculpted with greater precision while maintaining the familiar rear end structure.
One of the standout updates is the new AI Aqua Rainbow paint finish, which shifts its tones depending on how light strikes it. The coupe wears this color in a matte finish, while the Cielo convertible receives a glossy interpretation. Maserati has also introduced three daring new shades, Devil Orange, Verde Royale, and Night Interaction, expanding the personalization options for those who want to make a statement.
Attention to detail extends to the exterior badging as well. Maserati refreshed its iconic Trident logo with a rich magenta hue laced with sparkling blue mica flakes. This refined design appears on the grille, rear roof pillars, and wheel caps. The finish varies between the two body styles, glossy for the coupe and matte for the Cielo, creating a harmonious contrast with each model’s unique paint texture.
A Racing Inspired Interior with Dynamic Design
While preserving its familiar interior layout, the MCPura introduces a bold new seat design that draws inspiration from the racetrack. The seats are upholstered in laser etched Alcantara, featuring irregular vertical patterns that resemble tire marks, infusing the cabin with a motorsport inspired character. A striking three dimensional effect emerges from the dual color backing, blending shimmering red tones with shifting shades of blue to create a vibrant, layered aesthetic.
The cabin continues to reflect Maserati’s refined sporty identity, combining premium materials with advanced infotainment and connectivity technologies. Signature upward opening butterfly doors add a dramatic flair with every entrance, while the Cielo convertible variant elevates the experience with an electrochromic glass roof. At the touch of a button, this roof transitions from clear to opaque, allowing passengers to adapt the cabin ambiance to suit any mood or environment.
Nettuno Powertrain Still Roars with Unmatched Performance
Maserati continues to rely on its proven powertrain setup for the MCPura, with no mechanical changes to the engine. At its heart lies the acclaimed 3.0 liter twin turbocharged Nettuno V6, delivering an impressive 621 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque. Power is directed exclusively to the rear wheels through an eight speed automatic transmission, allowing the MCPura to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed exceeding 325 km/h, according to Maserati’s official figures.
While the output figures remain unchanged, the MCPura boasts a lighter build compared to the previous MC20. Maserati claims a dry curb weight of approximately 1380 kilograms for the coupe, a significant drop from the 1704 kilograms recorded by the 2022 MC20 tested by Car and Driver, which accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.
Production Imminent and Pricing Expected Soon
Maserati is preparing to begin production of the MCPura at its Modena factory in Italy during the third quarter of 2025, with the official market launch set to follow shortly after. Sales in the United States are scheduled to start by December of the same year. While the brand has yet to confirm final pricing, expectations suggest a slight increase over the current MC20 lineup, which starts at 243,000 USD for the coupe and 277,000 USD for the Cielo convertible.
With these carefully considered updates, Maserati reintroduces the MC20 under the refined identity of MCPura, reaffirming its commitment to delivering high performance vehicles with unmistakable Italian flair. This marks a bold new chapter for the nameplate, preserving its core essence while embracing a more mature and distinctive presence on the global stage.
