BYD has recently unveiled a preview of the Tang L, a new SUV that adopts a fresh design language and is expected to be positioned above the current BYD Tang lineup. The Tang L is anticipated to debut soon. For context, the existing Tang family includes the pure electric Tang EV and the plug-in hybrid Tang DM models. The Tang EV is priced between 219,800 and 269,800 yuan, while the Tang DM ranges from 179,800 to 269,800 yuan.

The preview image highlights the Tang L’s side profile, which departs from the design of the existing Tang family. The SUV features a more dynamic, upward-sloping waistline and hidden door handles for a sleeker look. Additionally, the roof appears to house LiDAR, supporting advanced intelligent driving functions. The side view also hints at redesigned front and rear lighting elements.

The front of the Tang L retains BYD’s signature “Dynasty Network” design with a prominent trim panel that spans the width of the fascia. The SUV is equipped with split headlights, combining a two-stage LED cluster above and an LED strip below. These are seamlessly integrated with the air intakes on either side, while an illuminated front logo adds a modern touch.

From the side, the Tang L stands out with its bold upward waistline, concealed door handles, black roof rack, black window trim, and black wheel arch moldings. Although official dimensions have not been disclosed, the Tang L is expected to be larger than the current Tang models. For comparison, the BYD Tang DM-i measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,725 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

At the rear, the Tang L features a striking full-width light bar with a redesigned internal structure. Additional elements include a large rear spoiler and a black rear diffuser, which enhance the SUV’s sporty appearance.
Powertrain options for the Tang L are expected to include both pure electric and plug-in hybrid variants. The hybrid model will utilize BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, though specific details have yet to be announced. Based on BYD’s current technical expertise, the Tang L is likely to feature a front McPherson strut and rear five-link independent suspension. High-powered variants may also include the Yunlian-C intelligent damping control system for enhanced driving dynamics.
