Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer NIO has announced the launch of special Champion Edition versions of its popular ET5, ET5 Touring, and EC6 models. This release celebrates the company’s victory in the 2015 Formula E Drivers’ Championship. These editions feature exclusive design upgrades, technical enhancements, and a slight price increase compared to the standard models.

Pricing and Upgrades of the Champion Edition

Prices for the Champion Edition versions of the ET5 and ET5 Touring with the standard 75 kWh battery start at 316,000 yuan, marking a 6.04% increase (18,000 yuan) over the base models priced at 298,000 yuan. Under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, prices start at 246,000 yuan compared to 228,000 yuan for the standard versions.

For the EC6 Champion Edition with the same battery, prices begin at 370,000 yuan, a 3.35% increase (12,000 yuan) over the regular EC6 priced at 358,000 yuan. Under the BaaS plan, prices start at 300,000 yuan versus 288,000 yuan for the base model.

Race-Inspired Exterior Design

The Champion Edition models sport an exclusive exterior package inspired by NIO’s Formula E race-winning car. The “Moon” design package includes high-performance green brake calipers, matte metallic accents, and a special badge highlighting the edition’s unique status.

The ET5 and ET5 Touring Champion Editions come with larger 20-inch wheels and offer nine different exterior color options. Suspension upgrades improve handling precision and driving stability.

The EC6 Champion Edition features 21-inch wheels and eight exterior color choices.

Attractive Purchase Incentives

NIO offers enticing incentives for customers who purchase any Champion Edition model before July 31. These include five years of interest-free financing, 240 free battery swaps valid for five years, and five years of complimentary use of the advanced Navigate on Pilot Plus (NOP+) driver assistance system.

Buyers of the ET5 and ET5 Touring Champion Editions also receive a complimentary comfort package worth 9,500 yuan and discounts on optional carbon fiber packages.

Availability and Pre-Orders

Customers can now reserve Champion Edition models, with deliveries starting July 9. The cars are currently available for viewing at NIO stores, allowing customers to experience the vehicles before purchase.

2025 Model Year Technical Updates

In May 2025, NIO updated the ET5, ET5 Touring, EC, and ES6 models by replacing the Nvidia Orin X smart driving chip with an in-house developed Shenji NX9031 chip. The central touchscreen was also redesigned from a vertical to a horizontal layout, enhancing user experience.
