Aston Martin Valkyrie is one of the greatest hypercars in the world, combining a naturally aspirated V12 engine with a Formula 1-inspired hybrid system, producing up to 1160 hp, and featuring race-inspired exterior and interior design. However, the experience of one German owner turned into a nightmare due to serious technical problems that nearly caused a severe traffic accident.

Dream Turns into Nightmare

In an interview with a German magazine, the owner, using the pseudonym "Konze," revealed he bought the car in February 2022 for 3 million euros (about $3.46 million), attracted by its stunning performance, aggressive design, and Formula 1-like driving experience, while still being street-legal. But after driving only 441 kilometers over three years, frequent technical issues began to appear, greatly affecting his experience.

A Near-Catastrophic Incident

On August 24, 2024, Konze faced a dangerous situation when he nearly collided with an ambulance sounding its sirens, which he did not hear due to a failure in the car’s headphone system. These headphones are essential because the V12 engine, which revs up to 11,000 rpm, is one of the loudest naturally aspirated engines, requiring the driver to wear special headphones to hear external sounds. The owner stated the incident was caused by system failure, emphasized he was not driving recklessly, and credited the ambulance driver’s skill for avoiding a fatal crash. Since then, he has filed a lawsuit against Aston Martin and has not dared to drive the car.

Recurring Technical Problems

This was not the only problem. Technical issues started immediately after delivery, with multiple warning lights and high-voltage system failures forcing the car to be taken to a service center. Despite the car’s complexity and its Formula 1-inspired hybrid system, the owner considered these faults unacceptable for such a high-priced vehicle.

Disputes Over Maintenance and Damage

The owner added that the car’s “Rocket Locker” suspension system, which prevents hydraulic suspension sinking during power loss, was removed without his knowledge, causing damage. The car also suffered damage during transport to the service center. Aston Martin refused to take back the car, insisting it was delivered “defect-free,” and claimed the suspension damage resulted from misuse by the owner, who insisted on changing the wheels himself and bought special tools for that.

Complex Legal Issues

Aston Martin tried to move the case to a British court, where the car is manufactured, but European consumer protection laws allow the owner to file the case in his home country. The owner rejected a court-proposed settlement, expressing his desire to enjoy his car rather than engage in legal disputes.

Future Expectations

Both parties now have six weeks to submit more documents. If the German court refuses to hear the case, the owner might be forced to file it in Britain, complicating matters further.

The experience of this Aston Martin Valkyrie owner reveals that even the most expensive and luxurious cars can face technical problems and design or manufacturing flaws that impact user safety and driving experience. It also highlights the importance of strong technical and legal support for consumers facing such challenges, especially with the complexity of modern hypercar technology.
