Jeep is preparing to open a new chapter in the Renegade’s story, a model that was discontinued in the U.S. and Canada in 2023 but remained available in other global markets. By 2027, Jeep plans to introduce a completely redesigned generation of the Renegade, combining modern styling with the brand’s signature off road capability, while placing a strong emphasis on hybrid and fully electric powertrains to align with the industry’s push toward sustainable mobility.

Redefining the Renegade's Identity

The new Jeep Renegade moves away from its traditional rounded lines, adopting sharper angles and modern design cues inspired by recent digital renderings. The concept, created by independent designer Marco Maltese, retains the Renegade's iconic compact dimensions but introduces a bolder presence with pronounced wheel arches and a rising window line.

The front end has been significantly reimagined, replacing the classic round headlights with semicircular LED units, a design trend seen in models like the Land Rover Defender and several contemporary Chinese SUVs. Jeep's signature seven slot grille remains central to its identity, while a reinforced plastic front bumper adds to its rugged off road appeal.

At the rear, the design stays upright, honoring the Renegade's original silhouette. Slim LED taillights and a sturdy metal skid plate complement the front design. A Trailhawk variant aimed at off road enthusiasts is also expected, featuring all terrain tires and increased ground clearance for enhanced off road capability.

Digital and Practical Cabin Inspired by the Jeep Avenger

Although still in the conceptual stage, the cabin showcases a clear focus on combining modern technology with practical functionality. It features a fully digital instrument cluster alongside a sophisticated infotainment system. Smartly designed storage compartments are thoughtfully integrated into the dashboard and center console to improve everyday usability.

The design takes cues from the Jeep Avenger, reflecting the brand's dedication to delivering a comfortable and adaptable interior, especially suited for urban environments where space optimization and organization are essential for daily driving.

New Platform with a Clear Electric Focus

The next generation Renegade will move to Stellantis’ new STLA Small platform, replacing the current Small Wide 4x4 architecture. This modern platform provides significant flexibility, supporting traditional internal combustion engines, mild hybrid systems, and fully electric powertrains, allowing Jeep to tailor the vehicle to various market needs.

Current expectations suggest the Renegade may adopt a 1.2 liter turbocharged three cylinder engine paired with a 48V mild hybrid system, similar to the one used in the Avenger 4xe. This setup makes it possible to add an electric rear axle, delivering efficient all-wheel drive without relying on conventional mechanical components, thereby improving off road performance while maintaining fuel efficiency.

Jeep has officially confirmed plans to launch a fully electric version of the Renegade, in line with the global shift toward zero emission vehicles. This move continues the brand’s electrification strategy, already underway with the Compass and Avenger EVs, and responds to increasing demand for electric vehicles, particularly in the European market.

Jeep's New Renegade Bets on Value

With its launch expected in 2027, the new Jeep Renegade is projected to start at under $25,000 (AED 91,800), positioning it as one of the most competitively priced small electric SUVs in its segment.

In the U.S., where compact SUVs are becoming less common due to growing interest in larger vehicles, the Renegade will stand out as a rare and distinctive choice. In Europe, it will face tough competition in a saturated market that includes models like the Dacia Duster, Peugeot 2008, Citroen C3 Aircross, Opel Frontera, Volkswagen T-Cross, and Hyundai Kona.

The upcoming Renegade is expected to regain its appeal through a modern design, a choice of electric and hybrid powertrains, and practical interior features, offering strong potential to stand out while aligning its rugged American identity with contemporary driver expectations.
