Nio has officially unveiled the refreshed 2025 versions of its electric sedans, the ET5 and ET5 Touring, introducing more than 500 upgrades spanning design, comfort, smart technology, and performance. These updates come as part of the company’s strategic push to solidify its presence in the growing EV market, especially in light of rising competition from major players like Tesla and Zeekr.

Sharper Design and Enhanced Aerodynamics

Both models now feature a fully redesigned front fascia, sharpened for a more modern and assertive look. Nio equipped the cars with advanced ADB adaptive matrix headlights, accompanied by distinctive dual line LED daytime running lights that give the vehicles a futuristic visual identity. The hood has been sculpted more aggressively, while the side profile now boasts more defined lines that enhance aerodynamic performance at higher speeds.

Nio also introduced new exterior colors that align with the identity of each model. The ET5 arrives in a vibrant Sunset Purple, while the Touring variant is finished in a sophisticated Moonlight Silver that gives it a calm and elegant presence. The sporty look is further elevated with glossy black accents on the bumpers, side skirts, and rear diffuser, paired with newly designed 20 inch five spoke wheels featuring aerodynamic inserts to reduce drag and improve overall efficiency.

Refined Cabin and Premium Comfort

The interior of both the Nio ET5 and ET5 Touring offers a luxurious driving experience, supported by cutting edge display technologies. A 15.6 inch horizontal AMOLED screen sits at the center of the dashboard, complemented by a 10.2 inch digital instrument cluster and a large 50 inch augmented reality head up display. Replacing the conventional rearview mirror is a high definition digital mirror that provides clearer and safer visibility under various driving conditions. Buyers can choose from three elegant interior themes: grey, purple, and pearl, tailored to suit diverse style preferences.

Nio has gone the extra mile to elevate passenger comfort, introducing an 11 layer seating support system that includes dual layer seat cushions made from high resilience foam. This setup ensures optimal body support and balanced weight distribution, particularly during extended journeys. Rear seat comfort has also been improved by extending the seat base by 75 mm. Thermal insulation is enhanced using infrared resistant double layered side windows, while a dual coated panoramic roof blocks up to 99 percent of solar heat, keeping the cabin cooler and more comfortable even in the GCC region’s intense heat.

Advanced Tech and Outstanding EV Performance

The updated models from Nio are powered by the in house developed NX9031 chip, which delivers processing capabilities on par with four top tier automotive chips. This chipset works in tandem with a suite of 29 sensors, including a LiDAR with a 300 line resolution and a 4D imaging radar. Together, they enable the vehicle’s advanced autonomous driving features, allowing for precise scene recognition and predictive behavior through Nio’s proprietary World Model platform.

Both models utilize a dual motor all wheel drive system that generates a combined output of 490 horsepower, with 150 kilowatts sent to the front axle and 210 kilowatts to the rear. Torque peaks at 700 Nm, ensuring a responsive and dynamic driving experience. Three battery configurations are available: a 75 kWh pack offering up to 585 kilometers of range in the ET5 and 550 kilometers in the Touring, a 100 kWh pack for extended driving, and a 150 kWh battery available for short term rental that enables a driving range of up to 1,055 kilometers under CLTC standards.

Attractive Pricing and Flexible Ownership Options

The updated Nio ET5 with the 75 kWh battery starts at 298,000 yuan (151,920 AED). For those looking for a more flexible option, Nio offers the vehicle without the battery for around 228,000 yuan (116,234 AED), with monthly battery leasing fees starting at just 728 yuan, or about 371 AED.

While these prices are slightly higher than rivals like the Tesla Model 3 and Zeekr 007, Nio aims to justify the premium by offering a more comprehensive ownership experience, blending luxury comfort, advanced technology, and refined driving dynamics. The market seems to respond positively to this strategy, as Nio recorded 2,015 units sold of the ET5 and 6,015 units of the Touring version in April 2025 alone, highlighting growing interest in high tech family oriented EVs.
