In Saudi Arabia, the Traffic Department has revealed the primary causes of traffic accidents in the Northern Borders region for 2023.
According to the report, the three most common reasons for accidents are:
1. Sudden deviation of vehicles.
2. Drivers using mobile phones while driving.
3. Not maintaining a sufficient safety distance.
Moreover, the Traffic Department identified the leading causes of sudden vehicle deviation on the road as follows:
- Heavy rainfall.
- Faulty or under-inflated vehicle tires.
- Driving above the allowed speed.
- Not using turn signals when changing lanes.
- Failing to perform regular comprehensive vehicle inspections.
- Distracted driving.
Earlier, the Traffic Department also outlined the causes of traffic accidents in the Eastern region in 2023, which included drivers using mobile phones while driving, sudden road deviations, and not maintaining safety distances.
Additionally, the Traffic Department conducted a week-long field campaign from December 1 to December 7 to crack down on violating motorcycles, identifying a total of 6069 violations, distributed as follows:
- Riyadh Region: 3028 violations.
- Holy Capital Region: 405 violations.
- Medina Region: 125 violations.
- Eastern Region: 369 violations.
- Asir Region: 77 violations.
- Tabuk Region: 10 violations.
- Hail Region: 101 violations.
- Qassim Region: 24 violations.
- Jazan Region: 38 violations.
- Najran Region: 44 violations.
- Northern Borders Region: 9 violations.
- Al-Jouf Region: 1 violation.
- Al-Baha Region: 15 violations.
- Jeddah Region: 1765 violations.
- Taif Region: 51 violations.
- Al-Qurayyat Region: 7 violations.
