The GMC Terrain has quietly existed in the company's lineup since 2018. Despite a late facelift in 2022, the Terrain remains the most popular SUV from the company in the first half of this year. Now, GMC is promoting a new model, advertising it as the next generation of the vehicle.

The new 2025 model features an updated exterior, although the differences are hard to notice immediately. The overall design is similar to the previous version, particularly with the C-shaped LED headlights and some design lines on the vehicle. The new model adopts a forward-leaning C-pillar design, similar to its counterpart in the Chevrolet Equinox. The front end is completely new, featuring a larger rectangular grille sitting above a more angled and sharper front fascia.

There are also straighter lines starting from the lower front with vertically oriented reflectors. The C-shaped taillights are generally smaller, and the small rear windows in the Terrain have been replaced with larger glass panels. Additionally, there is a new streamlined dual-color roof option.
Moving to the interior, the changes are much more prominent. It includes a 15-inch digital display in the center of the dashboard, complemented by an 11-inch digital gauge display. These features are standard across the Terrain lineup, with 15 driver assistance systems and Google Assistant among other features. Options include a power liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, a 5G hotspot, and eight exterior cameras.

Technically, the vehicle hasn't changed much. The only engine option is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 175 horsepower. This is the same engine as in the current vehicle but paired with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. At launch, the company states that the vehicle will come standard with all-wheel drive. It remains unclear whether a less expensive front-wheel-drive version will be available later.
