The BYD Seal has proven its unique competitiveness in the electric vehicle market, especially as an alternative to the Tesla Model 3. The launch of the new 2025 model brings significant improvements. The most important change is in the power system, where the 400-volt electrical system has been replaced by an all-new 800-volt system. Although the company did not disclose specific improvements in charging speed, it now takes only 25 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, significantly down from the previous 37 minutes. Additionally, the new car offers two battery options, 61.44 kilowatt-hours and 80.64 kilowatt-hours, with a CLTC range of 510 km and 650 km, respectively. Like the previous model, the new base version will feature a single electric motor producing 228 horsepower driving the rear wheels, while the more powerful rear-drive version will provide 308 horsepower. There is also an option for a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with a power output of 523 horsepower.
BYD has also updated the suspension system for the electric vehicle, equipping it with the latest generation of Disus-C adaptive shock absorbers, which are said to enhance stability, comfort, and handling. Significant safety updates have also been made, with the most notable feature being the roof-mounted LiDAR system that improves the vehicle's semi-autonomous driving capabilities. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a high-efficiency urban navigation system and automated parking features.
The interior design has also undergone several changes, with the most noticeable being the redesigned four-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, which looks more distinctive. BYD has simplified the design of the center console and adopted a new glossy black dashboard that extends across the width of the cabin, creating a more unified visual effect.
