The Toyota 2JZ engine, which is familiar with the history of automobiles, has been used in all four generations of the Supra and Lexus, and is regarded as the most powerful internal combustion engine ever. Recently, a foreign Youtube channel dismantled a 2JZ engine that had been driven for more than 600,000 kilometers!
The YouTube channel “I Do Cars” recently acquired a 2JZ engine removed from a Lexus GS300. The car's odometer has shown a whopping 643,737 kilometers. Curious about the internal state of the engine, Eric, the channel's host, decided to disassemble it to see how the engine fared after a long period of use.
As expected, the interior of the 2JZ engine was in amazing condition. After 643,737 kilometers of driving, the heads and camshafts showed only minor wear and a few varnish deposits. In fact, this is a far cry from some engines that have traveled as little as 160,934 kilometers (100,000 miles).
Further dismantling revealed that the cross-hatching on the cylinder walls was still visible, with only a few scratches. This level of wear is almost miraculous at such a high mileage. Additionally, the engine's underpinnings remain healthy, although there are some sludge deposits in the oil pan, and the crankshaft and bearings are within the normal range of wear.
The condition of the engine shown in this video is yet another testament to the engineering excellence of the Toyota 2JZ engine and its outstanding durability. Of course, to achieve such high mileage and good condition, regular basic maintenance is essential. This engine has certainly lived a long life because it has been well taken care of with routine maintenance such as oil changes.
The performance of the Toyota 2JZ engine once again shows why it has become a classic in the tuning world and among car enthusiasts. With over 643,737 kilometers on the clock, the engine still retains much of its original performance, a testament to its durability and reliability.
