As part of its standout presence at the 2025 Greater Bay Area Auto Show in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, premium brand Yangwang, a subsidiary of BYD, unveiled an exclusive and eye catching edition of its flagship U8L SUV. Dressed in a dramatic new color combination of deep volcanic black and radiant solar gold, this bold appearance goes far beyond a simple aesthetic refresh. It embodies a refined artistic vision rooted in imperial Chinese heritage and firmly positions Yangwang in the elite realm of full size executive SUVs.

Imperial Elegance Reimagined Through Design

The Yangwang U8L debuts a one of a kind exterior finish that draws inspiration from ancient Chinese imperial artistry. The paintwork takes cues from traditional lacquer techniques using black and gold, a practice that dates back more than 2,000 years. The fusion of rich volcanic black with warm solar gold creates a sophisticated visual harmony that blends elegance with modern flair.

Adorning the SUV a front and rear emblems featuring the Chinese character “电,” symbolizing electric energy. Crafted entirely from pure 24 karat gold, this signature detail speaks volumes about the level of craftsmanship and luxury embedded in this edition. The front fascia follows Yangwang’s signature “鼎 dǐng” design language, featuring sharply sculpted, three dimensional headlights that emphasize precision and strength.

At the rear, the bumper design has been refined with the spare wheel removed, lending the vehicle a cleaner and more executive inspired look. The U8L stretches to a total body length of 5400 mm, with an extended wheelbase of 3250 mm. This increase in dimensions translates into a more spacious cabin that elevates the premium passenger experience targeted by this high end SUV segment.

Premium Cabin and Practical Features with Luxurious Details

The interior of the Yangwang U8L embodies the essence of modern luxury, featuring a six seat configuration in a 2+2+2 layout that offers each passenger exceptional comfort and personal space, making it ideal for business professionals and high profile individuals. The extended body length translates into a generously spacious rear area, providing ample legroom and a heightened sense of privacy inside the cabin. While the full interior specifications have yet to be officially revealed, expectations point to the use of top tier materials and advanced digital technologies, set to be announced in the second half of 2025.

Functionality blends seamlessly with elegance through a vertically split, power operated tailgate, offering versatile use whether during daily commuting or outdoor adventures like camping. The lower section of the tailgate can support up to 200 kilograms, making it suitable for sitting or temporary loading purposes when needed. Luxury continues with stylish 23 inch aluminum wheels featuring a refined eight hole design, while the 285 mm wide tires enhance grip and road stability. Intelligent center caps maintain the upright position of the brand logo even while the wheels are spinning, showcasing an attention to detail that underscores the vehicle’s premium craftsmanship.

Next Gen Smart Driving Redefined

The Yangwang U8L comes equipped with an advanced intelligent driving system known as Tian Shen Zhi Yan A, or the Eye of God. This next generation setup integrates three LiDAR sensors, high resolution cameras, and multiple radars to deliver comprehensive 360 degree environmental awareness. With this cutting edge system, the vehicle is capable of fully autonomous navigation in both urban areas and highways. It also supports smart parking functions, including Easy Sifang Parking for precise maneuvering and Valet Parking, which allows the vehicle to park itself without any driver input.

These intelligent capabilities place Yangwang at the forefront of autonomous driving technology, especially when compared to brands that still rely on semi autonomous solutions. The system’s high responsiveness and reliability are further strengthened by strategic collaborations, most notably with Huawei, ensuring seamless performance across diverse driving scenarios.

Powerful Propulsion and Precision Engineering

The Yangwang U8L is powered by an extended range electric vehicle (EREV) system, combining a 2.0 liter turbocharged gasoline engine that functions as a generator with four independent electric motors. This advanced setup delivers a total output of 880 kilowatts, equivalent to approximately 1180 horsepower, and a massive 1280 Nm of torque, giving the SUV outstanding performance and lightning fast acceleration that surpasses many rivals in the full size luxury SUV segment.

This immense power is intelligently distributed through the YisiFang e⁴ platform, enabling precise control over each individual wheel. The result is remarkable handling stability and high responsiveness across varying terrains. To further enhance off road and dynamic performance, the U8L is equipped with a double wishbone suspension system at both the front and rear, along with front and rear differential locks for improved traction in challenging conditions.

Additionally, the YunNian-P DiSus-P system offers adjustable air suspension, allowing the driver to raise or lower the ride height depending on road conditions or driving preferences. This ensures greater comfort and smoother navigation over uneven surfaces. On the safety front, the U8L introduces unique features like emergency water floating capability, stable mobility even with a flat tire, and Tank Turn mode, which enables near zero radius turning for superior maneuverability in tight spaces or rugged terrain.
