New 2024 Buick GL8 PHEV in-depth Walkaround
The Buick GL8 PHEV showcases a design philosophy that blends modern aesthetics with the essence of oriental landscapes and cutting-edge digital technology. Its front end features a large grille, while the split headlight design distinguishes the upper daytime running lights from the main headlight set below, giving it a sophisticated appearance.
The side profile of the Buick GL8 retains its signature dynamic shape, making it easily recognizable. The rear of the vehicle is likely to maintain the through-type taillights, creating a visually harmonious effect that complements the front design. The light clusters on both sides echo the headlights, contributing to an overall stretched and atmospheric visual impact. The vehicle’s dimensions measure 5219mm in length, 1878mm in width, and 1807mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3088mm.
Inside, the Buick GL8 PHEV embraces a new technological luxury design, offering a spacious, flexible layout that combines intelligence and comfort. The smart concierge island, a unique feature in its class, includes built-in cooling and heating boxes, cup holders, wireless charging, and more. The rear cabin features a smart screen that supports touch and remote control, Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity, and wireless screen projection for both Android and iOS devices.
The upgraded Nappa leather airline seats offer enhanced comfort, with thicker backrests to improve shoulder and neck support. Notably, the Buick GL8 Lu Zun PHEV offers two cabin layout options: a six-seat and a seven-seat configuration. The seven-seat model includes an electric folding function for the third row, adding to its versatility.
Powering the Buick GL8 Lu Zun PHEV is a new PHEV smart electric plug-in hybrid system. This includes a plug-in hybrid electric drive unit developed by the Pan Asia Automotive Technology Center, a next-generation plug-in hybrid battery, and a 1.5T hybrid engine with a deep Miller cycle and triple AI intelligent control algorithm. The system delivers a combined power output of 292kW and a comprehensive torque of 580N·m. The vehicle boasts a CLTC comprehensive cruising range of up to 1,370 kilometers, and its 0-100km/h acceleration time has improved by 15%. The current GL8 Lu Zun’s acceleration time is 9.8 seconds, while the plug-in hybrid version is expected to achieve around 8.5 seconds. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with both fast charging and slow charging interfaces, offering flexibility for different charging needs.
