My Haval HS has been driven for over 12,000 kilometers. Today, after going out and just returning home, the engine emission fault appeared. When I put it in reverse gear, there's no response, but it drives in D gear. Is this issue serious? I'll go to the 4S shop for a checkup tomorrow!

4Guys, I'm really freaking out. Just now, while driving smoothly, the D gear light (the one on the gear shift) started flashing, and the dashboard showed "Please shift to D gear first before selecting the appropriate gear." I was in a panic and didn't know whether to press the brake and shift to P gear or shift to P gear and then to D gear, and then it prompted "Speed too high to shift into D gear (or maybe P gear, I forgot)." It was terrifying, the car felt like it was in neutral and there was no power when I pressed the accelerator. I managed to park on the side using inertia, shifted back to P gear, and then to D gear, and it resumed normal driving. I want to ask you guys, what's going on here exactly? Is there a specific part that's malfunctioning?
5MG HS experiences a strong jolt when shifting from P to R or D when the car is cold. This has happened many times. When I went to the service center, the technician connected a computer and reprogrammed the transmission for gear learning. It got better, but after some time, the jolt returns when shifting gears with a cold engine.
6I bought the 2025 Passat 380 Star Edition, and since we already have a 2024 330 Elite model at home, I was able to directly compare the two. The main differences come down to a few added features — like extra millimeter-wave radars, one additional camera, and three more ultrasonic sensors. Most of the other specs are nearly identical. The biggest improvement I noticed is in the adaptive cruise control, which is now more responsive and accurate. The rear parking sensors also trigger more easily. Fuel consumption is actually quite good: on highways and elevated roads, it averages around 7.1 L/100 km — nearly the same as the 330 (which ranges between 6.8 to 7.2 L). As for space, it's one of the main reasons I chose this car. We’ve got kids in the family, and this car is mainly for weekend outings and family use. Compared to the Magotan, the Passat offers better ride comfort, and its 2.87m wheelbase ensures a roomy interior. Feature-wise, the Passat covers everything needed for daily use: side mirrors that tilt automatically when reversing, ventilated and heated seats, auto hold, adaptive cruise, and active braking. It’s all there and makes daily driving much more convenient. Now for the downsides: the infotainment system feels outdated. The screen is too small, there's no built-in navigation worth using, and no wireless phone connectivity, which is a letdown in 2025. Also, there’s still a bit of jerkiness at low speeds that hasn’t been addressed. The gear shifter is still wrapped in leather but looks pretty basic. Overall, at this price point, the Passat is still a solid choice. It doesn’t have any major flaws, and it’s a good all-around car — perfect for someone who wants a reliable, practical ride without too much fuss or flash. Not the flashiest design, but definitely a sensible and balanced option.
7I’ve had this car for six years now. I haven’t driven it much—total mileage is around 90,000 km—because I don’t travel long distances with it. My workplace is close to home, so there aren’t many long trips. In terms of fuel consumption? It’s amazing. It averages about 5.8L per 100 km, so when I put in 100 EGP worth of fuel, I can go a long way. That’s one of the main reasons I’ve held on to it. In the first year, I used to do maintenance every 3 months, but I noticed the oil was still clean as if just changed, so I switched to every 6 months. Now, I do it once a year and everything’s going just fine. What bothers me is that the car doesn’t look stylish. It’s a bit cramped, and honestly, it feels kind of like a microbus—that’s the biggest thing that keeps me from being fully comfortable with it. Plus, the dashboard is all hard plastic with basic design. But since I got the slightly higher trim, it does have push-button start, keyless entry, and parking sensors. When it comes to driving, the car needs a gentle touch. You have to press the gas pedal softly to get it moving smoothly. I tried pushing it to 130 km/h once, and it started to feel shaky. The cabin gets noisy, but I just play music and it’s manageable. The suspension isn’t super soft—you do feel the bumps, but they’re not harsh. In summary: it’s a highly economical car. Fuel consumption is low, spare parts are affordable, and the engine is still in great condition. If only it were a bit more spacious and had a better design, it would’ve been perfect.
