On 28 September local time, Mazda's new electrified sedan - Mazda EZ-6 was officially pre-sold in China with a price range of CNY 160,000-200,000 (SAR 85,000-107,000).
It is understood that Changan Mazda EZ-6 is an electrified sedan jointly developed by Mazda and Changan Automobile, which is Mazda's partner in China. The EZ-6 is based on Changan's EPA platform and offers both pure electric and extended-range power, and the new car will be officially launched in October.
Exterior
Mazda EZ-6 still adopts the classic family design language, which is the first impression of Mazda flavor design. Its large size front grille structure remains unchanged but more technological sense. And the pure electric models and range-extended hybrid models in the appearance of certain differences, including pure electric model’s front grille for closed shape, range-extended models front grille for the conventional air intake hole shape, but both grille internal present dot matrix style.
The vehicle's front enclosure integrates black panels with the front grille, and there are longitudinal ventilation openings on both sides, while the lower part of the vehicle is equipped with active grille function and heat sink design.
The headlight cluster adopts a split design, with the main light source hidden under the daytime running lights, while the light band around the front grille. It has the feather-like light source on both sides, forms the LED light cluster called ‘Wings of Light’, and the Mazda logo in the middle also has a light-emitting function.
The new car's overall shape presents a sliding coupe style, smooth waistline to create a swooping effect, front and rear side fenders are slightly wider than the body design, the lower edge of the door and the lower edge of the window are designed with chrome decorations, equipped with hidden door handles and larger rims, showing some sporty atmosphere.
Rear part, the new car adopts the current EV popular through the flowing grille headlights at the same time, through the tail lights on both sides of the increase of four round gun barrel lights fully embodies the Mazda characteristics, tail lights and built-in deformable electric tail complement each other.
Dimensions, the new car length, width and height are 4921/1890/1485mm, wheelbase is 2895mm.
Interior
The Mazda EZ-6 is equipped with a floating 14.6-inch centre control screen and a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel with touch buttons for a more technologically simple design. Meanwhile, the interior of the car's base model is wrapped in a lot of leather, while the higher-end models feature a lot of leather/tumbled leather patchwork, which suitably enhances the sense of luxury.
In terms of features, the car will also come with a 14-speaker Sony audio system, 64-colour ambient lighting, zero-gravity front seats, and the cabin supports 13 scene mode switching as well as a panoramic sunroof.
Powertrain
The Mazda EZ-6 is available with both extended-range and pure-electric power. The range-extended model is equipped with a 1.5L range extender with a maximum power of 70kW and a 160kW motor, with 18.99kwh and 28.4kwh lithium iron phosphate batteries, and a pure electric range of 105km and 160km, respectively. the pure electric model is equipped with a single electric motor with a maximum power of 190kW, and lithium iron phosphate batteries with 56.1kWh and 68.8kWh capacities. The pure electric range is 480km and 600km respectively.
Mazda in the Chinese market and Changan joint development, the integration of Changan automobile electrification, intelligent field of leading strength, as well as Mazda automobile in the design, handling, safety field of deep attainments, and then give birth to a price-performance sedan, is not lost in the development of ideas. But in the future, whether there are consumers willing to pay, is also unknown.
