Mazda is gearing up to launch its all new EZ-60 SUV in China this September as part of a broader push into the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector. Positioned in the mid size SUV segment, the EZ-60 is the result of a joint development with Chinese automaker Changan, one of the country's leading vehicle manufacturers. Globally, the model will be marketed as the Mazda CX-6e, marking Mazda’s second NEV entry in China and signaling its serious commitment to electric mobility in one of the world’s most dynamic automotive markets.

Since symbolic reservations opened, the EZ-60 has generated impressive interest, receiving more than 26,000 preorders by early June. The majority of customers fall within the 25 to 40 age group, with 76% of buyers coming from this tech savvy demographic. Most are based in China’s major urban centers, highlighting strong appeal among young professionals who value connected, intelligent driving experiences and modern styling.

Dynamic Styling Meets Mazda’s Electric Future

The EZ-60 carries Mazda’s signature design DNA but evolves it for the electric era. Its sleek front fascia features a full width illuminated grille flanked by artistically split LED headlights. The clean, futuristic lines are accentuated by flush mounted door handles and sleek electronic side mirrors that elevate its modern aesthetic.

At the rear, the vehicle continues its bold statement with a sloping roofline that enhances its sporty character, complemented by an integrated spoiler and a full width connected taillight design. Measuring 4,850 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, the EZ-60 rides on a generous 2,902 mm wheelbase, delivering a spacious cabin interior. Every detail has been carefully considered to balance elegant styling with next generation technology, creating a refined yet futuristic silhouette fit for Mazda’s next phase of electrification.

Advanced Interior and Smart Features Designed for the Next Generation

Inside the cabin, the Mazda EZ-60 introduces a new standard in smart driving experiences. At the heart of the dashboard is a floating 26.45 inch 5K display, paired with a futuristic 100 inch naked eye 3D head up display that features eye tracking technology. This system projects navigation and road data directly in front of the driver, eliminating the need for additional screens or accessories.

The immersive atmosphere continues with a premium audio system that includes 23 speakers, enhanced with Dolby Atmos technology for a surround sound experience that transforms every journey. A cutting edge 4nm processor powers over 1,700 in car functions, covering entertainment, navigation, and climate control, offering seamless responsiveness to user input.

The EZ-60 is powered by a 190 kW electric motor available in both the fully electric and extended range versions. The EREV variant features a compact 1.5 liter gasoline engine that acts as a range extender, generating an additional 70 kW of power. This setup ensures greater flexibility for longer trips. The SUV also integrates Level 2 advanced driving assistance, automatic parking capabilities, and a luxury front seat known as the Queen’s Seat, which offers heating, cooling, and massage functions for ultimate passenger comfort.

Strong Presence in China and Ambitious Future Plans

Mazda has opened pre-orders for the EZ-60 at a symbolic price of just 10 Chinese yuan, roughly equivalent to 1.50 US dollars, which will later be deducted from the final purchase price. This move reflects the company's intent to encourage a wider audience to explore its new electric SUV. Reservations are available through both Changan Mazda’s digital platforms and physical showrooms, aligning with the evolving digital habits of Chinese consumers.

Following the EZ-60’s early success, Mazda confirmed its plans to further deepen its partnership with Changan by developing two additional electric models. This initiative is part of a broader strategic vision to strengthen Mazda’s presence in one of the most competitive electric vehicle markets in the world.

With the EZ-60, Mazda offers a well rounded package that blends advanced technology, premium comfort, and modern design. It targets a new generation of drivers seeking a contemporary lifestyle on the road, both in China and, eventually, across GCC countries and global markets.
