Audi Q5 Plugs into the Future with Up to 62 Miles of Electric-Only Range and Faster Charging
Audi has unveiled the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions of its Q5 and Q5 Sportback models, marking a significant step toward the future of electric and hybrid vehicles in Europe and worldwide. These models feature a 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and a larger 25.9 kWh battery, delivering impressive performance and an electric-only range of up to 62 miles (about 100 kilometers) without using fuel.
Advanced Hybrid Powertrain and Strong Performance
The Audi Q5 PHEV is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder TFSI engine combined with an electric motor integrated into a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Together, they produce a combined output of 295 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. This setup enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h.
There is also a higher-performance variant delivering 362 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, reducing the 0-100 km/h sprint to 5.1 seconds while maintaining the same top speed. This powertrain offers a sporty yet eco-friendly driving experience.
Larger Battery and Improved Electric Range
The new PHEV models feature a battery that is 45% larger than the previous generation, with a capacity of 25.9 kWh. This allows the vehicle to travel between 82 and 100 kilometers on electric power alone, making it ideal for daily urban commuting, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
Faster Charging and Greater Convenience
The Q5 PHEV supports AC charging at 11 kW, up from 7.4 kW in previous models, enabling a full charge in about two and a half hours. This faster charging capability enhances practicality for daily use, allowing the battery to be recharged faster than most smartphones.
Luxurious Interior and Advanced Technologies
The hybrid Q5 models come with an S line interior featuring black leather sport seats, tri-zone climate control, an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with over-the-air updates.
Additional features include an S line sport suspension, red brake calipers, and lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels, emphasizing the sporty and premium character of the vehicle.
Safety and Driver Assistance Systems
The Q5 PHEV is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems such as blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, multiple airbags, and advanced braking systems, ensuring high safety standards.
