In a bold move reflecting Chery’s global ambitions, the Chinese automaker has officially opened presales for its latest hybrid sedan, the Fulwin A9L, starting June 25 in China. The model is set for a full domestic launch in July and targets the competitive midsize to full size sedan segment. Positioned against rivals like the BYD Han DM-i and the Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 PHEV, the A9L also marks a key step toward Chery’s global rollout scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
Sleek Styling Meets Aerodynamic Precision
The Chery Fulwin A9L stands out with its fastback inspired silhouette, sculpted for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. With a drag coefficient of just 0.23 Cd, the design balances elegance and performance. At the front, a sealed grille flows seamlessly into a full width LED light bar, while the rear features connected taillights and an active rear spoiler for enhanced stability and flair.
Semi concealed door handles with mechanical backup add a premium touch, complemented by vertical matte air curtains that improve airflow. The car’s dimensions emphasize its commanding road presence, stretching 5018 mm long, 1965 mm wide, and 1500 mm tall, with a generous 3000 mm wheelbase. It rides on 20 inch multi spoke alloy wheels that complete the upscale, performance oriented look.
Advanced Hybrid Power and Exceptional Range
The Fulwin A9L is powered by Chery’s Kunpeng Super Hybrid Electric 6.0 system, paired with a stepless DHT Pro transmission that ensures smooth driving and immediate throttle response. The hybrid setup combines a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine producing 160 kW (around 215 hp) and 310 Nm of torque with a 33.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Kunpeng Blade battery.
This configuration delivers a pure electric driving range of up to 260 km, while the combined range reaches approximately 2,000 km when both the battery and fuel tank are fully utilized. This positions the A9L among the top performing plug-in hybrids globally in terms of energy efficiency and versatility, whether for urban commutes or long distance highway cruising.
Premium Cabin and Smart Driving Technology
Inside, the Fulwin A9L merges premium materials with cutting edge technology. The cabin features suede style surfaces on the doors and dashboard, refined chrome accents, and intricately knurled metallic switches, creating a luxurious and tactile experience. Customers can choose between two tone interior color options, such as black with red or brown with white, catering to different style preferences.
Rear passengers enjoy generous space thanks to the extended wheelbase and dual pane panoramic sunroof. The rear seats also feature layered cushioning and an integrated center armrest, providing added thigh support and comfort.
On the tech front, the infotainment system is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8255 chipset, ensuring a fluid user experience. Advanced driver assistance functions are enabled through 27 intelligent sensors, including LiDAR, millimeter wave radars, surround view and panoramic cameras, and ultrasonic sensors. These are all connected to the Orin Y 200T computing platform for autonomous driving.
The A9L supports features such as memory based automatic parking, Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) for both urban and highway use, and lane change alerts for blind spots. Certain trims without LiDAR sensors are equipped with conventional Level 2 driver assistance systems instead.
A Bold Global Launch Backed by Record Breaking Export Growth
The Fulwin A9L made its debut at the Hong Kong International Automotive and Supply Chain Expo, drawing strong attention from tech savvy young visitors. This interest reflects Chery’s evolving strategy to offer high end sedans that resonate with a new generation of drivers looking for style, innovation, and advanced technology.
Pricing for the A9L is expected to fall between 150,000 and 200,000 yuan (approximately 76,669 to 102,226 AED), making it a highly competitive offering given the range of premium features it delivers. Chery Chairman Yin Tongyue also confirmed that the company is on the verge of surpassing 5 million exported vehicles, highlighting its expanding influence in global markets.
He further revealed that proceeds from Chery’s upcoming IPO will primarily support research and development for electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as the company’s global market expansion. This solidifies Chery’s long term commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility solutions.
