Denza, the luxury brand under the umbrella of BYD Group, has officially unveiled its latest model, the N8L, a full size SUV designed to seat six passengers. Arriving in the wake of the successful N9, this new flagship reinforces Denza’s position in the upscale family SUV market. Built on the advanced e3 platform, the N8L blends bold exterior styling, cutting edge technology, and dynamic performance. It also offers an exclusive version equipped with an integrated smart drone system, showcasing Denza’s ambition to lead in futuristic mobility.
Bold Exterior Design with Dynamic Details
The exterior design of the N8L embodies Denza’s new brand identity, drawing inspiration from its sibling, the N9, while introducing unique touches that reinforce its independent character. At the front, the SUV features sleek horizontal daytime running lights paired with vertically aligned main headlights on both sides. A large trapezoidal grille gives the front fascia an aggressive personality, while active shutters enhance aerodynamic efficiency and optimize engine cooling.
From the side, the body lines flow smoothly along the length of the SUV, complemented by flush door handles that align with the modern aesthetic and side view cameras integrated into the front fenders. The B, C, and D pillars are finished in glossy black, creating a stylish floating roof effect that gives the N8L a distinctive visual presence.
At the rear, the taillights adopt a connected design similar to the N9, but with subtle modifications that give the N8L its own identity. The license plate has been repositioned to the rear bumper, lending the back end a cleaner and more refined appearance.
Advanced Technologies and Unprecedented Options
The Denza N8L introduces a unique innovation with its optional smart drone integration. A special version of the vehicle comes equipped with a built in roof platform that enables instant takeoff and landing for drones, including popular models like DJI. In this configuration, the vehicle’s height increases to 1,990 mm, enhancing its technological presence and giving it a competitive edge unlike anything else in its segment.
Although official interior images have yet to be released, available information points to a six seat layout with individually configured seats. The second row seats are expected to offer maximum comfort, featuring power adjustable leg rests, heating, and ventilation functions, along with integrated foldable tables. The cabin will likely include a large 15.6 inch central display, a 12.3 inch digital instrument panel, and possible additions such as rear seat entertainment screens and a built in refrigerator.
In terms of smart driving, the N8L is equipped with the DiPilot 300 system, also known as God’s Eye B. This system uses a roof mounted LiDAR sensor to deliver advanced autonomous driving support for both urban streets and highways. It integrates seamlessly with multiple screens throughout the cabin, including a head up display for the driver and entertainment screens for rear passengers. Additionally, the vehicle features a multi zone voice interaction system capable of accurately recognizing commands from any seat inside the car.
Powerful Hybrid Performance and Class Leading Driving Range
The Denza N8L is powered by an advanced plug in hybrid system that combines a 2.0 liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 204 hp with three electric motors distributed across the front and rear axles. The front electric motor delivers 268 hp, while each of the two rear units generates 241 hp, resulting in a total system output of 751 hp. This impressive power enables the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds, with a top speed of 220 km/h.
To support this performance, Denza has equipped the N8L with a substantial 46.99 kWh battery pack, offering an electric only range of up to 170 km under WLTC standards, or 160 km for the drone equipped version. Combined with the fuel tank, the total driving range exceeds 1,000 km, making it an excellent choice for both daily commutes and extended road trips.
The vehicle supports both fast and slow charging, with the fast charging feature allowing the battery to go from 20 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes, offering greater convenience and flexibility for drivers. Fuel consumption in charge depleting mode stands at just 6.95 liters per 100 kilometers, a highly efficient figure considering the SUV’s size and performance capabilities.
Smart Suspension and Impressive Agility
The Denza N8L stands out with remarkable engineering thanks to its advanced DiSus-A smart suspension system. This setup enables rear wheel steering, making maneuvering effortless even with the vehicle’s substantial 5.2 meter length. The system also supports innovative features like intelligent crab walk and the e3 Parking system, ensuring exceptional control in tight urban spaces and parking situations.
With generous dimensions, the N8L firmly positions itself in the premium SUV segment. It measures 5,200 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase stretching to 3,075 mm. These proportions allow for a spacious interior that rivals even the most luxurious models in its class.
Expected to launch at a price between 350,000 and 400,000 Chinese yuan, roughly 48,500 to 55,500 USD (178,139 to 203,850 AED), the N8L is strategically priced to compete on a global scale.
Upon its official debut, it will face off against rivals like the Li Auto L8, AITO M7, and WEY Lanshan. However, its comprehensive suite of intelligent features, powerful performance, and luxurious driving experience clearly set it apart, especially in GCC markets that value a refined blend of cutting edge tech and upscale appeal.
