For decades, the car collection of the Sultan of Brunei has been a topic of fascination among car enthusiasts worldwide.
However, until recently, only a handful of images of this breathtaking automobile ensemble circulated, making it one of the most intriguing mysteries of modern automotive history.
Now, with the rise of social media, hundreds of photos of the Sultan's fleet have emerged, shedding light on this legendary collection. The images were taken around 2001, and the current condition of the inventory remains unclear. What these photos confirm is that the collection consists of hundreds of truly unique cars, reflecting the extraordinary wealth of the Sultan of Brunei.
It is well-known that the Sultan has a fascination with the McLaren F1, at one time owning 10 of the 106 F1s ever produced. Now, images of 8 of these F1s have surfaced, including 3 F1 LMs in the collection. McLaren produced only 5 F1 LMs, and two of those owned by the Sultan feature a black paint scheme with silver, blue, and yellow accents. The collection also includes a blue F1, a silver F1, a yellow F1, a black F1 GT, and an F1 GTR inspired by the famous Ueno Clinic car that won the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In the early 2000s, the collection also featured at least four Bugatti EB110 SS models. One was painted black with red, blue, and yellow racing stripes and had an interior adorned with blue, red, green, yellow, and black leather. The Sultan has a penchant for Bentley cars as well, with photos showing dozens of them, including several Continental Rs and two of the six Bentley Dominators delivered to the Bruneian leader.
Additionally, the Sultan owns dozens of Ferraris, including at least seven F40s, several F50s, and three specially made Ferrari F90s. The F90 shares its fundamentals with the famous Testarossa. A range of Porsches also highlights the collection. Alongside regular 911s, there are several 959s and five Porsche 962s.
