- A Graceful Farewell to a Japanese Icon
Since its debut in 2018, the Lexus LC has left a bold mark in the world of luxury coupes with its sleek, flowing design, balanced performance, and cutting edge technology. Whether in its coupe or convertible form, the LC introduced a new perspective on luxury, blending power and elegance in a uniquely refined package. Although its exterior design has seen few changes over the years, the car continues to radiate modernity and timeless appeal. According to Japanese media reports, however, this icon is nearing the end of its journey, with a special Pinnacle Edition planned exclusively for the Japanese market.
Limited Farewell Edition
According to the Japanese website Creative Trend, Lexus is planning to end production of the LC after the 2026 model year, closing a significant chapter in its legacy of luxury sports coupes. Before that final curtain call, the brand will introduce a special farewell edition called the Pinnacle Edition, offered exclusively in the Japanese market. This limited run will include 100 units of the coupe and another 100 units of the convertible. Rather than being sold in a traditional manner, these models will be allocated through a lottery system, with spots split between current Lexus owners and the general public.
Both versions of the Pinnacle Edition will feature exclusive exterior and interior finishes. The coupe will wear a matte silver paint paired with a cabin dressed in black and white, while the convertible will be coated in Neutrino Gray with a sand colored soft top and an interior combining white and saddle brown tones. To emphasize their sporty appeal, both models will come equipped with 21 inch forged aluminum wheels, red brake calipers, and a rear spoiler made of carbon fiber.
Uncertain Future in Global Markets
Although production of the Lexus LC has been officially confirmed to end in Japan after 2026, its fate in other markets remains unclear. In a statement from Lexus North America, a spokesperson noted that models and trims vary by region, and there is currently no confirmation regarding whether the LC500 will continue or be discontinued in the US. Still, the possibility of a farewell edition for international markets remains open, especially since Lexus recently introduced an Ultimate Edition for the IS500, hinting at a potential similar sendoff for the LC.
Globally, the Lexus LC is currently offered in two versions. The LC500h features a hybrid V6 powertrain producing 354 horsepower and is available exclusively as a coupe. The LC500, on the other hand, is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8 engine delivering 471 horsepower and comes in both coupe and convertible forms. In performance testing, the LC500 convertible accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, highlighting its impressive capabilities.
As for pricing, the 2025 LC500 starts at 101,100 USD (371,289 AED), while the LC500h begins at 104,250 USD (382,858 AED). If a final edition is released, it is expected to carry a significantly higher price tag due to its rarity and exclusive features, making it a highly desirable collector’s item for automotive enthusiasts.
A Graceful Farewell to a Japanese Icon
If these reports prove accurate, the Lexus LC is quietly preparing to exit the global stage with grace and style. Throughout its production run, this model stood as a shining example of how advanced engineering can blend seamlessly with captivating design, earning its place as a formidable contender in the world of luxury cars.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding its future outside Japan, the Lexus LC remains a rare opportunity for enthusiasts in the GCC to own one of the most iconic expressions of Japanese automotive elegance before it disappears from showrooms. If its discontinuation is confirmed, it will forever be remembered as a benchmark in design excellence and a defining chapter in the legacy of the Lexus brand.
