Mercedes is preparing to unveil one of its key launches for 2025: the new CLA Shooting Brake, recently seen testing at the famed Nürburgring circuit. This model reflects the brand’s commitment to merging sleek, sporty design with enhanced practicality, offering drivers in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and across the GCC a refined wagon that balances everyday usability with signature Mercedes sophistication.
Eye Catching Exterior Design
The CLA Shooting Brake boasts a unique design that sets it apart from its sedan sibling, featuring a longer and more versatile rear that enhances practicality without sacrificing elegance. At the front, star pattern LED headlights and a traditional grille signal that the car is powered by an internal combustion engine. The roof tapers smoothly toward the rear, creating a dynamic silhouette while preserving generous cabin space.
A sharply angled rear gate makes trunk access easier, adding to the car's everyday usability. The side profile features sleek, flowing lines that underscore its sporty appeal and improve aerodynamic efficiency. Early estimates suggest that the new model will offer more cargo space than the sedan’s 405 liters, strengthening its appeal in the premium multi purpose vehicle segment.
Multiple Engines Balancing Efficiency and Power
The Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake will be available with several advanced powertrain options. It starts with a hybrid system that combines a 1.5 liter four cylinder gasoline engine with an integrated electric motor housed within an eight speed dual clutch automatic transmission, supported by a 1.3 kWh lithium ion battery. This setup delivers an ideal balance of fuel efficiency and dynamic performance, maintaining smooth responsiveness across various driving conditions.
In addition to the hybrid option, Mercedes will offer fully electric versions of the CLA under its EQ series. These include the CLA 250+ EQ, powered by a rear mounted electric motor producing 268 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque, and the CLA 350 4MATIC, featuring dual electric motors and an all wheel drive system that delivers 349 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque. Both models use a large 85 kWh lithium ion battery, providing a driving range of up to 792 kilometers under WLTP standards in the sedan version, although this figure may be slightly reduced in the wagon variant due to its added weight.
Cabin with Next Gen Technology
Inside, the CLA Shooting Brake reflects Mercedes' commitment to digital innovation, featuring a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster seamlessly integrated with a 14 inch central touchscreen for infotainment and system controls. A second 14 inch display is available for the front passenger, providing an engaging and interactive experience for both occupants.
One of the standout features is the AI powered MBUX virtual assistant, offering intuitive voice control over various vehicle functions, from navigation to climate control, enhancing convenience and everyday usability.
Mercedes is also expected to equip this model with a full suite of advanced safety technologies, including forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, and lane keeping assistance, ensuring a safer and more confident driving experience.

Even though I'm originally a pharmacist, the thrill of speed, elegant designs, and roaring engines has always had my heart. Today, I channel this passion by exploring the newest cars and sharing my experiences with fellow car enthusiasts across the GCC.
