Chinese automaker BYD has introduced a completely new electric sedan named the e7, marking the company’s ongoing shift toward sustainable mobility. Designed for the commercial and shared mobility sectors, the e7 is not part of BYD's established Dynasty or Ocean series. Instead, it is sold through a platform aimed at corporate and institutional clients, boosting its chances of adoption in taxi fleets and smart delivery services.

Well Proportioned Dimensions and Practical Features for Everyday Use

The BYD e7 falls into the mid size sedan category and features a clean, functional exterior design. It measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. These dimensions translate into generous interior space, ensuring comfort for both driver and passengers, especially during extended driving periods, as typically required in delivery and ride hailing services.

The car is available in three trim levels. The base model starts at 103,800 Chinese yuan (approximately 52,887 AED), while the top trim is priced at 115,800 yuan (around 59,000 AED). For a limited time, the company is offering a 5,000 yuan (about 2,547 AED) discount on purchases made before the end of June, reducing the starting price to just 98,800 yuan (around 50,339 AED). This makes the BYD e7 one of the most affordable electric vehicles in its segment.

Reliable Electric Motor and Flexible Range Options

The e7 from BYD is powered by an electric motor that delivers up to 100 kW (approximately 134 horsepower) and reaches a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph), making it well suited for both city driving and highway use.

Customers can choose between two battery options depending on their needs: a 48 kWh battery that offers a range of up to 450 km (280 miles) and a larger 57.6 kWh battery with a range of up to 520 km (323 miles), based on the CLTC driving cycle used in China. These options provide valuable flexibility for long working hours without the need for frequent recharging, an essential feature for applications such as taxis and ride hailing services.

Although the e7 does not belong to BYD’s existing Dynasty or Ocean series, it is marketed through a dedicated platform for corporate clients, underscoring the brand’s strategic focus on commercial mobility. The absence of user restrictions suggests that BYD aims to position the e7 as a versatile solution for a wide range of business transport needs.

BYD Strengthens Its Position in the Electric Vehicle Market

BYD continues to solidify its position in the electric vehicle sector by focusing on clean energy solutions and sustainable technologies. Since announcing in March 2022 its complete halt of internal combustion engine vehicle production, the company has exclusively focused on electric and plug in hybrid models, a strategic shift that has clearly boosted its sales performance.

In April alone, BYD recorded sales of 380,089 new energy vehicles, marking a year on year growth exceeding 21%. Passenger electric vehicles dominated the figures with 372,615 units sold, while the remainder were commercial electric models. Although sales of the e2 model declined by 66% compared to the previous year, they rose by 17% over March, reflecting a positive response to recent updates.

With the launch of the new e7 model, BYD reaffirms its commitment to delivering advanced electric vehicles that offer efficiency, reliability, and low operational costs. This aligns perfectly with the rapidly expanding GCC markets, which are embracing electric mobility across both public and private sectors.
