IM Motors, a subsidiary of China’s SAIC Group, has introduced the refreshed IM L6 electric sedan, featuring notable upgrades in performance and technology while keeping the base price unchanged. The model strengthens its competitive edge in the mid to full size electric sedan segment and is especially well suited for markets such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE, where demand for premium electric vehicles continues to rise.
Elegant Design and Platform Evolution
The updated IM L6 measures 4,937 mm in length, slightly longer than its predecessor, while the other dimensions remain unchanged: 1,960 mm in width, 1,474 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. Its exterior features a dynamic silhouette that blends sleek lines with a sporty character, reflecting the futuristic identity that IM Motors seeks to establish in the electric sedan segment.
All new variants are built on an advanced 800 volt electric platform, representing a significant upgrade from the previous generation’s 400 volt architecture. This enhancement delivers greater energy efficiency and faster charging capabilities, aligning with the expectations of today’s tech savvy drivers in competitive markets.
Diverse Performance Options and Pricing
The IM L6 is available in four variants: Max, Max+, Pro Max, and Ultra. Prices range from 219,900 to 279,900 Chinese yuan (approximately $30,540 to $38,850 or AED 112,123 to AED 142,676). The company has also announced limited time discounts, reducing the starting prices to 204,900 yuan (about AED 104,387) and up to 264,900 yuan (around AED 135,038) for the range topping Ultra.
The two lower priced variants feature rear-wheel drive and a single electric motor producing 245 kW and 430 Nm of torque, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds. The more powerful single motor version delivers 300 kW and 500 Nm of torque, enabling a quicker 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 4.6 seconds.
At the top of the lineup, the Ultra variant comes equipped with all wheel drive and dual electric motors that produce a combined output of 579 kW and a peak torque of 800 Nm. This setup delivers thrilling sports car like performance, launching the sedan from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.74 seconds, making it one of the most powerful electric sedans on the market.
High Capacity Batteries and Rapid Charging
The base variants of the IM L6 are equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries rated at 74 kWh, delivering a CLTC estimated range of up to 690 kilometers (428 miles). This makes them well suited for both daily commutes and intercity travel without the need for frequent charging. On the other hand, the higher tier trims feature nickel cobalt manganese batteries with capacities of up to 100 kWh. One version offers an extended range of approximately 850 kilometers (528 miles), while the other delivers around 780 kilometers (485 miles), granting drivers added flexibility for long distance trips.
Thanks to its advanced high voltage architecture, the IM L6 supports ultra fast charging, enabling the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 16.8 minutes. This capability aligns perfectly with the fast paced demands of modern urban life, particularly in cities like Dubai and Riyadh, where convenience and time efficiency are essential when choosing a vehicle.
Deliveries of the updated IM L6 will begin on May 19, as interest continues to rise among EV enthusiasts seeking a blend of cutting edge performance, practical range, and competitive pricing, all wrapped in a sleek and reliable electric sedan.
