Chinese automakers continue to strengthen their presence in the Saudi market, offering consumers a growing array of vehicles that combine modern styling, advanced technology, and competitive pricing. Among the most notable crossovers capturing attention are the GAC GS3 EMZOOM 2025 and the all new Geely City Ray 2025. Positioned within the same segment, both models aim to deliver a comprehensive driving experience in terms of design, performance, features, and value. In the following lines, we highlight the key differences between the two SUVs to help you decide which one better suits your daily needs and personal preferences.

Performance and Fuel Efficiency

Both the GAC GS3 EMZOOM and the Geely City Ray 2025 are powered by similar drivetrain setups, featuring a 1.5 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine paired with a 7 speed dual clutch transmission and front wheel drive. However, the GS3 EMZOOM edges ahead slightly in power output, delivering 174 horsepower compared to the City Ray’s 172 horsepower. This advantage translates into quicker acceleration, with the GS3 sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, while the City Ray takes 7.9 seconds to reach the same mark.

In terms of fuel economy, the GS3 EMZOOM leads again, offering an efficiency of 18.3 km/l, whereas the City Ray records 17.3 km/l. That said, Geely compensates with a larger 51 liter fuel tank, compared to the GS3’s 47 liter capacity, allowing for a longer driving range per fill-up. Additionally, the City Ray features a more advanced multi link rear suspension setup that enhances stability and comfort on uneven roads, while the GS3 utilizes a torsion beam rear suspension, which is simpler and generally less refined in its class.

Sporty Flair vs Practical Elegance

The GAC GS3 EMZOOM reflects a bold and modern sporty identity through its striking dynamic design. This is especially evident in its R-Style exterior package, which features vivid orange accents that inject a youthful and daring character. With 19 inch alloy wheels and a power operated tailgate offering 341 liters of cargo space, the GS3 EMZOOM balances sporty aesthetics with daily practicality for both urban commutes and weekend escapes.

On the other hand, the Geely City Ray takes on a more reserved and utilitarian approach, favoring practicality with 18 inch wheels and a significantly larger rear cargo space of 571 liters. This makes it a strong contender for families and road trip enthusiasts seeking spaciousness and functionality.

In terms of dimensions, the City Ray takes the lead with a longer, wider, and taller body. It measures 4510 mm in length, 1865 mm in width, and 1650 mm in height, giving it a more commanding presence on the road compared to the GS3 EMZOOM’s 4446 mm length, 1850 mm width, and 1600 mm height. Geely emphasizes its practicality with dynamic digital neon tail lights and functional roof rails, while the GS3 EMZOOM shines with sleek hidden electric door handles and ambient interior lighting that adds a refined touch to the cabin.

Interior Tech and Smart Features

The cabin of the GAC GS3 EMZOOM strikes a refined balance between sophistication and technology. It features a 10.25 inch infotainment display paired with a 7 inch digital instrument cluster, complemented by ambient lighting that elevates the sense of luxury inside. The front seats are ventilated and wrapped in synthetic leather, with the driver’s seat offering electric adjustments. A wireless charging pad further adds to the day to day convenience, making the GS3 a comfortable companion for daily commutes.

On the other hand, the Geely City Ray stands out with its large, high resolution 13.2 inch 2K screen powered by a Qualcomm 8155 chip, offering seamless integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While its infotainment experience is undoubtedly advanced, it lacks some practical features such as wireless charging and seat ventilation. The interior finishes combine fabric with synthetic leather, giving it a slightly less premium feel compared to the GS3 EMZOOM’s cabin.

Both crossovers offer everyday essentials like one touch power windows, rear air vents, and a multifunction leather steering wheel. However, when it comes to smart driving systems, the GS3 clearly takes the lead with a suite of advanced features including a 360 degree camera, autonomous parking (APA), remote start, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. In contrast, the City Ray is limited to a rearview camera and a standard cruise control system, lacking the high level driver assistance technologies found in its rival.

Safety Assurance, Warranty & Pricing

The GAC GS3 EMZOOM Sport Plus is equipped with six airbags, alongside a comprehensive safety suite that includes electronic stability control, traction control, automatic emergency braking, and a forward collision warning system. In contrast, the Geely City Ray GC features only two airbags and lacks advanced driver assist technologies. However, it compensates with a highly rigid structure thanks to the use of boron steel and the BMA 2.0 platform, enhancing occupant protection in the event of a collision.

As for pricing, the GS3 EMZOOM Sport Plus is priced at approximately 92,506 SAR (90,584 AED), including VAT. Meanwhile, the City Ray starts at 92,635 SAR (90,711 AED) for the base GC trim and goes up to 101,835 SAR (99,720 AED) for the fully equipped GF version. In terms of warranty, GAC offers a six year or 250,000 kilometer coverage, while Geely surpasses that with a seven year warranty for the same mileage.
