Xiaomi has officially unveiled its first all electric SUV, the YU7, during a major launch event held on June 26. With this reveal, the tech giant marks its formal entry into the smart mobility space with a vehicle packed with cutting edge features and advanced technology. Starting at 253,500 yuan (128,000 AED), the YU7 is available in three trims designed to meet the needs of a wide range of drivers: Standard, Pro, and Max.
Striking Design and Spacious Proportions for Premium Appeal
The YU7 features a sleek and modern exterior with smooth body lines and a sporty fastback roofline. Functional aerodynamic elements such as active grille shutters and flush mounted electric door handles further enhance its futuristic look. These details contribute to an ultra low drag coefficient of just 0.245, boosting efficiency and performance.
Built on Xiaomi’s in house Modena EV platform, the YU7 stretches nearly five meters in length and almost two meters in width, giving it a commanding road presence and a roomy interior. Its wheelbase spans a generous three meters, ensuring comfortable legroom for passengers. Wheel options range from 19 to 21 inches, and customers can choose from nine exterior paint colors, including a signature gemstone inspired green. The cabin is offered in four stylish color themes, including turquoise gray and soft iris purple.
Powerful Electric Performance With Class Leading Range
The Xiaomi YU7 is built on a cutting edge 800V silicon carbide electrical architecture and powered by the brand’s efficient V6s Plus motors. Each variant delivers a unique configuration of power, acceleration, and driving range. The entry level Standard trim features a rear motor generating 235 kW and 528 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.88 seconds. Thanks to its 96.3 kWh LFP battery, it offers an impressive range of up to 835 km.
The mid range Pro version upgrades to a dual motor all wheel drive system with a combined output of 365 kW and 690 Nm of torque. This setup allows it to reach 100 km/h in just 4.27 seconds while delivering a driving range of 770 km. Sitting at the top of the lineup, the Max model delivers peak performance with two motors producing 508 kW and 866 Nm, enabling a blistering 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.23 seconds and a top speed of 253 km/h. It relies on a larger 101.7 kWh NCM battery that delivers a range of up to 760 km.
All variants support ultra fast charging at 5.2C, allowing the battery to gain up to 620 km of driving range in just 15 minutes, placing the YU7 among the most efficient and convenient electric vehicles in its class.
High Tech Cabin with Premium Comfort
The interior of the Xiaomi YU7 feels more like a luxury lounge than a typical SUV cabin. Passengers are welcomed by premium Nappa leather seats, with the front seats offering up to 123 degrees of reclining along with built in massage functions. Rear seats can also be adjusted electrically to 135 degrees, providing comfort for every passenger on board. The dashboard is dominated by an expansive 1.1 meter wide panoramic display made up of three high definition Mini LED screens, delivering a fully immersive visual experience for the driver and front passenger.
Rear passengers are not left out, thanks to a 6.68 inch touchscreen that allows control over climate and entertainment settings. Voice control is handled by Xiaomi’s intelligent assistant, allowing seamless interaction without lifting a finger. Storage has been thoughtfully designed, offering a total of 1,970 liters of space, including a 13.7 liter lockable glove box, a 5.2 liter rear drawer, and a 4.6 liter mini fridge, along with 36 smartly positioned compartments throughout the cabin.
For an audio experience that matches the cabin’s visual appeal, the YU7 is equipped with a 25 speaker surround sound system supporting Dolby Atmos. The SUV also integrates fully with the Apple ecosystem, featuring Apple CarPlay, Apple Music, and remote vehicle control via Apple Watch, ensuring a connected and luxurious driving experience.
Advanced Safety and Extreme Testing Inspire Confidence
Xiaomi engineered the YU7 with a hybrid structure that combines aluminum and ultra high strength steel rated at 2200 MPa. Developed in collaboration with academic partners, this reinforced frame features a crash absorbing front structure and a bullet resistant battery shell, reflecting a strong commitment to occupant safety and structural integrity.
On the autonomous driving front, the YU7 is equipped with Nvidia’s powerful Thor chip, delivering 700 TOPS of processing power. Xiaomi’s in house driver assistance system is trained on over 10 million real world video clips, enhancing its ability to handle complex driving scenarios. Every trim level also includes advanced LiDAR sensors, enabling precise environmental awareness and improving automated driving performance in a wide range of conditions.
According to CEO Lei Jun, the YU7 underwent more than 539 days of rigorous testing across 296 cities, logging over 6.49 million kilometers in extreme weather and terrain. This exhaustive trial program ensures that the YU7 delivers consistent performance and reliability, regardless of climate or road conditions.
Following its official unveiling, Xiaomi opened reservations for the YU7 with a refundable deposit of 5,000 yuan (700 USD - 2,500 AED). Production is set to begin in July at the company’s Phase 2 factory, which targets an annual output of up to 150,000 units. However, high demand may cause delivery delays, with some buyers potentially waiting until 2026 to receive their vehicles. This strong early interest underscores the impact the YU7 has already made in the EV market.
