The public transportation sector in Saudi Arabia has reached a significant milestone with the launch of its first hydrogen-powered bus, marking a new era in eco-friendly transportation.
This innovative initiative is part of a pilot project for intercity transport in the Al-Ahsa region, aiming to enhance the safety and sustainability of travel, ultimately contributing to environmental protection and pollution reduction.
This historic moment was officiated by Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, the Governor of Al-Ahsa. He noted that this hydrogen bus is a first for the Kingdom, boasting an impressive range of up to 635 kilometers on a single charge, accommodating 45 passengers, and connecting the city of Dammam with Al-Ahsa.
Notably, this bus operates without any carbon emissions and can reach speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour. It is set to improve both the quality of life and the environment, while also fostering innovation in the transport sector, providing a more advanced and reliable means of transportation.
